I don’t think vladar played bad but I don’t think that game makes it to overtime with wolf in the net. Vladar had to expect wolf was going to get the starting job, maybe not this soon though
Awful goaltender that has poor movement around the net, and over reacts to shots causing him to let in stoppable goals through his arm pits, 5 hole, above his shoulders. I could go on and on and on. He commits to going down wayyyyy tooo fast and also commits to RVH too often to fast before it is necessary and gets burned up high all the time. The only reason he is in the NHL is because he is tall, but he doesn’t seem to understand how to use his size to his advantage. Wolf is the guy to use this year as far as I am concerned, but the Flames will always try to go with Vladar because he is big. The entire NHL continues to use this excuse of using big goalies, even though Bedard, McDavid, Mathews, etc. etc. consistently burn these big dumb OAFS over the shoulder because they commit to going down before the shot is even released from the stick. Way too many goals scored above the shoulder (not even in the top corner) against big goalies, because they have convinced themselves that they can get away with always mindlessly go down and flail their shoulders up to try to recover, but the shots are too quick for guessing and it shows big time.
