I've officiated over 20 years at very high level hockey to minor pro and this may be the worst call I have seen. I have seen some awful calls in the national league but this tops them all. Completely embarrassing for the officials to see it that way. If you think it's embellishment then don't call the hit as a penalty and let the play go.
i feel like teams should be able to challenge penalties the same way they challenge goals- only there shouldn’t be a limit. there are too many bad calls these days to leave it up to the refs’ calls on the ice. send that shit upstairs for review and expose the rats lol
Not only did Laughton did Rodrigues from behind he then drops his gloves and jumps Schmidt. Leafs would have been lucky to be down only one player that should have been a 5 on 3
The hit wasn't that hard for one and second Rodrigues is a known flopper who has had academy award performances in the past! He knew exactly what he was doing hoping to get a PP for his team but the refs seen right through his act! Notice how he throws up his stick while falling down LOOOOOL, but he was hurt LOOOOOOL!! NHL refereeing is totally arbitrary in the playoffs. Anything can be called or not called in any random fashion. The moronic refs are totally destroying the game. 😮
I think the ref's just didn't want to give anyone a pp because the hit was fairly soft but the roughing was justified, so they just made some shit up to keep it 5 0n 5. but if so, it's a really dumb way to do it. they should have just given laughton and schmidt a minor each for roughing
