NHL’s Most Underrated Players of All Time
This video shines a light on hockey’s forgotten heroes – the NHL’s most underrated players throughout history. From defensive specialists like Jere Lehtinen and Jay Bouwmeester to two-way forwards such as Guy Carbonneau and Patrice Bergeron, we highlight the players whose contributions went beyond the scoresheet.
We examine skilled scorers like Pierre Turgeon and Alexander Mogilny who never received proper recognition despite impressive stats, and goaltending greats such as Tomas Vokoun and Curtis Joseph who carried their teams without the spotlight.
Even modern stars like Tomas Plekanec, Loui Eriksson, and Shea Weber often had their true value overlooked. While casual fans celebrate Gretzky, Lemieux, and Howe, these underappreciated players were often the backbone of championship teams.
Hockey excellence comes in many forms – perfect positioning, reliable faceoffs, defensive awareness, and selfless play. These players represent hockey at its best, where collective achievement matters more than individual glory.

Lidstrom is vastly considered as one of the 5 greatest defensemen in NHL history (surpassed maybe only by Orr) I have a hard time seeing this as "underrated"
