Next level pearl clutching. Great hockey when it’s your goalie doing the punching and slashing. And these are people who hold Darcy Tucker in high regard. I’ve taken harder shots from buddies in pick-up hockey.
Hearing non goalies talk about pucks to the head is comical. There is no goalie who intentionally takes a slap shot/snapnshot at full speed to the face for fun. It's not fairly common for a shot to rip off a mask. Guys, it hurts. This is waaaaaaay worse than the Bennet hit. I know you want to hate him and blame him, bit that was peanuts to this shot.
🤣😂🤣😂
All this trash talk and bashing his name yet they still want to sign Sam in the offseason. Typical leafs fans
You are more susceptible to a concussion after you suffer a first one. How does concussion spotter miss this? Be mad at Toronto medical staff
Could the SDPN guys cry anymore about every hit every leafs player takes?
Stolarz first shook his head with the helmet off him completely then again once it was back on, if you get your bell rung once it can take something even very minor in close sucession to get another one. I know you have a Leafs fanbase to placate here but call it straight guys.
I think the SDPN boys may be a little emotionally charged on this one (which is totally fair and makes sense, it's their team's starting goalie we're talking about). Arguing that this was a dirty hit/elbow feels like a bit of a stretch… You can slow it down frame by frame and sure it doesn't look great but in real time Bennett barely nudges him. Incredibly unfortunate result but absolutely not suspension worthy. Should've been a 2 min goalie interference call and that's it.
League got it right on this one. Fans just really hate Bennett. Which he has earned
Gonna play devil's advocate here, apologies beforehand!
I think Bennett was trying to bump him but not in the head per se. To me it looks like Stolarz dropped lower and farther forward than Bennett anticipated. He'd already made the decision to give him a bump while making a play on the puck, and since Stolarz lunged forward after the puck, Bennett's arm went into the back of Stolarz's head.
At first, Stolarz is more vertical as Bennett starts approaching. Bennet then starts his stick movement from his right to his left at the exact same moment that Stolarz elects to reach forward. Like, exact same moment. If Stolarz hadn't leaned forward like that, the contact would have likely been in the shoulder.
I will not argue that Bennett is a dirty player. If he'd succeeded in bumping Stolarz's shoulder that's 100% goaltender interference, 2 minutes in the sin bin, then we move on. Not Stolarz's fault, but I don't think it was Bennett's intention. Needs some form of disciplinary action because of the intent to interfere, you could argue that he'd need harsher punishment than usual due to being reckless.
Leafs fans have no grounds in this after Stolarz got away with punching Grieg with the blocker on and doing a two handed slash with the paddle. Multiple times. And they defended that.
When I started hockey I happened to bump into players even partners not knowing what I was doing but i was a beginner, not an NHLer! I don't believe bennet when he says "I didn't know that we made contact"
The over-the-net look that’s being primarily used does look worse, but if you use the behind-the-net footage you can see how slight that hit really was. It was barely a grazing, but maybe it hit just the wrong way (as concussions can come easily too) or it exacerbated an existing condition perhaps?
I dunno, I get the outrage and Bennett does have a history. But I just don’t see the level of malice that a lot of Leafs fans are saying it was done with. I’d have been fine with a one game suspension there I guess, but that would have been at most.
bennett is a nutbar just like jamie benn he should be suspended if he is going for the puck why is he taking his head off come on man
You know that there is a clear view of Stolarz stick going under Bennett's left skate which caused him to lose his balance right? Of course you do. That is why you have that stop motion video.
Any other hockey team this is simply going hard to the net. Maybe the issue is that Leafs fans don't recognize this effort and that's why all of the rest of the hockey world has to suffer this whinning. Think I have to go throw up with this bull action. This is the fan base getting their excuses lined up. When Berube is saying this is an issue is sickening.
No. Next question?
Its hockey, its physical, get over it.
I've seen a bunch of goalies take a puck off the head that knocks their helmet off. Yes, even off a slap shot. Haven't seen any of those goalies have to puke shortly after and get stretchered out of the building.
It wasn't the impact of the hit it was the twisting motion. Bennett twisted his neck. Bennett knows exactly what he was doing to cause a head injury. See the channel "Complete concussion management" where a doctor explains.
he was hurt before that happened
Pacioretty running barkov in the numbers when he's 4 feet off the boards and goes head first in is objectively more dangerous than bennet taking the puck to the front of the net. This guy screams go to the net how many times per video? Thats a legitimate hockey play. What Pacioretty did is not
Stolarz needs to man tf up this isn’t soccer he barely got touched no wonder why he’s always been a backup
Still trying to figure out were the hit was. Saw a rub or tap. Maybe Stolarz is concussed from the 90mph puck to face mask a few moments earlier….
It’s funny how they’re taking about this like it’s uncommon for players to take pucks to the net and bump goalies lol my god.
Guys in the military get mini concussions from firing rifles so to pass over a puck to the head at 80 mph is moronic.
So lemme get this straight it’s ok that patches confirmed that it’s an instinct to wanna kill your enemy but you didn’t reprimand that statement but no a leaf said it so you pass over such an aggressive comment
emotionally charged opinion…invalid bad hockey take
1:00 sounds like Trump America 🙂
Head shaking is done to “seat” the mask!
It’s not a sign of a concussion, quite the opposite!
A concussed person can’t shake the head, they reach for it! Watch.
All I gotta do is quote Rule 48 "a hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted." There ya go. And what has the history been for this infraction? Suspensions. Easy. Parros shouldn't have a job, and the NHL should be embarrassed.

Second Impact Syndrome (SIS) is extremely dangerous and potentially fatal. Hockey players have died from it. So even if Stolarz did get a slight concussion from the puck that hit his mask earlier, that only makes the Bennett hit even more reckless and damaging. Bennett should've been suspended for the series for that.
Bennetts hit barely touched Storlarz , I believe Storlarz saw an opportunity to get Bennett suspended and he went for it . Not a fan of either team by the way . I hope for a game 7 and many injuries to both teams.
Bennet calls everyone he injures his friend and the NHL buys it every time.
replaying a slight elbow movement in slow motion over and over again with stolarz poking at the puck putting him slightly outside the crease is the MOST basic hockey play i’ve ever seen, insanely bias leafs take i can’t even explain
Yes he should have being suspended he's a dirty player who doesn't have a conscience and don't mind injurying people to benefit his own career
