Something that would put me over the top is a dominant 6-2 type game where we put p,ya them. That will solidify me confidence in this Stanley cup roster team.
after last year’s heartbreak I find it hard to have genuine faith.
However, you can tell me if you disagree but I’ve noticed a genuine sense of no nonsense we want to close every game out if possible type of vibe with this team so far and I love it.

Loading McDrai is a different kind of tactical so far. Vegas is too worried about shutting McDrai down, and they lost on the cycle in the third period big time. Somehow, the Oilers coax the opposition into full turtling, and just absolutely slam them for it.

I see alot of wavering confidence/faith in the Oilers in these comments and thats the mental weakness that the losing teams have and why they lose. At no point in time can there be Doubt there can only be the grind to the WIN. McJesus knows this and it's why he's different and it's why he's the lead dog, and it's why their going straight for Stanley's cup and hoisting it high with Pride! Let's Fucking GO!!!
Feels like we are winning games that in years past we lost and been out of playoffs. We will get our comfortable wins. It’s these close ones and comebacks that REALLY help move us forward in the playoffs.

I don’t understand how you can be worried when they go down a few goals at this point. I am never concerned. I’ve seen this movie enough times to get rattled, this team has got their game, and even in the first period they were the better team, some flukes things happened which lead to the two quick Vegas goals. But they have far too much skill, speed, and effort to be out of any game.
I stand by my prediction, possible sweep.😊 Brown making defencemen look like pylons. Drai's sick backhand. Klinger making plays and his fall down but still getting puck deep was a display of strong second effort. Perry's patience in letting hill bite on the possible one-timer then tucking it in was awesome. Wallman broke up a pass in front which might have been a goal.😊 Let's go Oilers. Stupid interference call on brown and the nonsense high stick on Hertl.

Of course, I am here to continue to shill for my two favourite players in this year's playoffs, Calvin Pickard and John Klingberg.
Klingberg seems to have fixed his teeth, and that bionic upgrade has channeled into his robotic hips and turned this player into one of the biggest threats on the blue line. There were 2 3rd assists from him that if hadn't happened, would mean there was no scoring chance that turned into goals. He had multiple lead passes, defensive plays, board battles, and poke checks that thwarted offensive pressure all game. It was great to watch. I may need to highlight his play a little less going forward, as now it seems more mainstream acceptable to think Klingberg is a boss.
Picks had a great night! A few pundits were really annoying me, with comments like "garbage goalie who benefits from solid defensive play", and I just don't know if we are watching the same game. 4 minute penalty, double deflection, goes in the net. Tell me which goalie in this playoffs makes that save? Second goal, blueline turnover, Perry makes a dumb defensive play, Mark Stone is given 3 seconds to line up a perfect wrist shot that beats Pickard. Sure, maybe we want a save there, but so did Vegas when Hyman and Brown both beat Hill with wrist shots, glove side. But lets not talk about the goal line stuff he save, nope, or the 2 or 3 break in chances in the third period, he only saw 17 shots, so clearly had minimal impact on the game….
The seemingly most undervalued aspect of Pickard's play is his ability to play the puck. He was a master class last night, and easily the most frustrating player to play against for the Golden Knights. VGK mostly dumps and chases pucks into the zone and generates offense off the forecheck. Pickard corralled and played out like 10 to 12 different dump in plays, especially in the 2nd and 3rd periods. This, more than almost anything else, contributed to the small shot totals for Vegas in that game. Pickard's aggresive above crease positioning kept most of the outside shots sailing wide, and his puck play meant no sustained forecheck or net front presence. He directly contributed to the low shots on net with how he played that game. And he did this exact same thing to the King's in his last 4 games as well, though not nearly as cleanly as he did in last nights game.
Smart, effective puck play from a goaltender is a rare talent that very few in the league posses at a high level. Pickard posses that ability to play the puck and its a true asset to the team, especially one like the Oilers, its like he was born to play for us. The only other playoff goalie this year whose puck play was as effective as Pickard's was Binnington's and Kuemper's. Hill hardly touched the puck or made anything happen from his touches. Keep Pickard in net if we want to keep winning!
We are on a 5 game win-streak, and if last night's game is anything to go by, I struggle to see what Vegas actually has that can bust up the depth, aggression, and puck control of the Oilers. I think this keeps rolling, we are going up 2-0 tomorrow in Vegas, and we win in 4 is still my prediction. I expect a push back from Vegas next game, and that will determine my confidence on the sweep, but I believe!
An interesting fact: VGK was 26-0 ALL TIME in the playoffs when they have a multi goal lead, until last night 😭 this team is doing something special and I’m very intrigued about game 2 tomorrow 😉 let’s how the Oilers respond to a potential mad Vegas after an unexpected dropped game 1! LETS GO OILERS

Never forget, we are here because of Calvin Pickard. whoever said "no more stuart skinner" saved this team. The oilers deserve this. They will need that dirty, playoff toughness to get by the dirty, cheating Florida. But after what they have been through, Kane can take care of Florida. This has become very interesting. Keep Pickard in net and no more stuart skinner. Fire bowman/jackson.
Connor Brown was in Klingbergs position for a year and a bit while he healed from his own injury and surgery! Now Connor Brown is fully healthy and back. The reason I knew Klinger was going to be a hit for the Oilers is something he said, no stat whatsoever. He said he hasnt felt this good since he was 23 and he was a stud back then. Everything isnt just analytics!
I'd 100% rather be the team that can always come back than the team that can always get the lead. Is there even a team in this round 2 who can actually hold leads consistently?
I think what happens a lot of times is that there's a game-within-the-game of choosing battles, choosing what hill you want to die on. Oilers do not want to die on the hill of the 1st period, if the other team wants to spend all their gas early, the Oilers say go ahead and focus on making it costly. I might be wayyyy off but I'm just trying to make sense of things that aren't making sense haha
Their run so far has been incredible.
