The New York Rangers are in a interesting spot and will have the choice to either keep the 12th overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft or they’ll have to give up their 2026 first round pick unprotected to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I like jt miller but hes a 32 yr old power foward. They rarely age well. This is why it will likely end up being a bad trade. Drury has been so bad for the rangers he picks the wrong guys and then doesnt develop them. Lets not forget his infamous letter and all the dumb trades giving up assets

If it isn't that deep a draft and we only have #12 – give it to the Penguins.
The guy who falls in Rangers range & would be a superlative pick is Jackson Smith. Big guy, great skater & good in both zones. Watching him in the U18 tournament, he was a key guy in Canada's Gold Medal win. He projects as a top pairing D in the NHL. I fear he's going to go earlier & I like him more than Mrtka. Another guy in that range is Carter Bear who has really good offensive skills.
You keep this years pick. The draft isn’t as bad as people have made it out to be. It’s super loaded in d and centres (exactly what they need). It’s extremely likely aitchesson, Martin, McQueen could be available and all would be a huge spark to the pool. Plus you have to back on a bounce back, if not there’s many more problems to address
