Kulikov hit on Holmberg – Tough Call Review

Dmitry Kulikov drove through Pontus Holmberg as he tried to take the puck to the net. Stick off the ice in two hands is a dangerous game to play.

  1. hmmm tough call… while watching the game, i was so sure it was a crazy missed call for head contact. but upon further review, 2 minutes for domi cross checking!!!

  2. when I watched during the game I seen it briefly & didn't really take it in, but holy hell that was a tough hit to the dome & holmberg just shot up and skated away…
If ref was in the corner facing the hit, i think there is a higher chance a penalty would have been called but w the ref on the opposite side he doesn't see it as well cuz that was full on head contact

  3. Solid clean hit. Holmberg was aware of where he was and he was certainly ready to get smoked. Showed toughness by popping right back up.

  4. Dislike the Panthers but that hit wasn't bad, possibly borderline but not an egregious miss by the zebras. Also 25k fine to Toronto for daring to impede a panther player.

  5. Nah no call and no supplemental. Kulikov timed that perfectly.
To speak to why the stick comes up, this is a high-danger chance. If Kuli doesn't mind his stick properly, he risks interfering with Bob as Holmberg is working toward the net. It was a very CRAZY defensive play though.
