My thing is with how the Skinner thing really has been going (apparently) from WITHIN the organization, why-oh-why didn't they just pick up some goal tending before the trade deadline? Doesn't it seem unacceptable given the implications of some of this? At least get Gibson off of Anaheim–though a quality goal-tender like Scott Wedgewood was available late into the years. And I agree with the drift of the thoughts Dolynny articulates regarding the goal tending coaching. Swell old guy or not, the record is not a glorious one of borderline goaltenders getting better and going forward is it? Not after a long stay in Edmonton. But–truth is, these things are about failures off the ice. On the ice, Edmonton is clearly focusing and going forward and as long is Picard is solid–meaning can come back after a bad game and be normal–then they should be going forward even against professional champions as mighty as those in Vegas.
The Oilers are in A win NOW MODE!! The Oilers need a goalie TANDEM that can each win a tight game 1-0 or 2-1 !!! Skinner can be a great goalie , but the OILERS NEED A Goalie that can steal you a game!!! You cant have mishaps this time of year— not when your playing against a Kale Makar / colorado or VEGAS . The Jets won by 1 goal against the Blues— theres NO margin for error in the playoffs ……

Playoffs are a whole different game. Oilers are doing well. The players know what has to be done . Lets see how it unfolds going forward.

I have the conclusion to this goaltending issue.skinner is done in edmonton.once carter hart is exonerated he will be signed by edmonton him and calvin.if not Carter calvin will get a generational contract the man deserves this from edmonton great teammate and player.

I said it from the start, Skinner was just proving himself as a solid goalie in Bakersfield, I watched him play at home a lot. After one cup in the AHL, it wasn’t enough. If they had let him work out the kinks in Bakersfield for another season, he would have been an excellent addition to pull up.

Edmonton management didn't let skinner lose Edmonton the playoffs the last 2 years in a row only to trade him. They didn't give him every game of the Stanley cup final just to trade him the next year. Surprised dumb ass management isn't going to let him lose Edmonton the cup 3 years in a row lol

Well….They can't really make a trade NOW can they?…And if the Oilers go as far as they want to, they will probably need to give Skinner some starts? No way Pickard plays EVERY game for 4 hypothetical rounds of hockey, agreed? Also keep in mind Stu''s credentials as a starter…YEAR 1= Calder Candidate, All Star Game Appearance 2nd Round of Playoffs Year 2= Game 7 Finals….Local kid, still relatively young,$2.5 Million Cap hit….Do you REALLY want to see them abandon ship on him already after a up and down 3rd season as a starter?…Factor in pressure, burnout that all goalies go through PLUS wife giving birth twice in the last 3 years?….Don't get me wrong. I am delighted we have Pickard and that we are developing Rodrigue…But should the Oilers REALLY throw in the towel with Skinner?…NOW? as the 2nd round begins? Can't we just at least wait until the season is actually over before entertaining these rumours?
Skinner is not even a good backup ringette goalie.
