Was the Hockey world denied one of the all-time great goalies when Wally hung up the pads?
I want to ask your your opinion on a young goalender that came up through the ranks in the Maritimes by the name of uh Brent Wallace. And I Wally, these pictures we have here right now, he had a very unorthodox style. Andy, what do you think of this guy’s style? Like what kind of goalie would you picture a young Wall-E being? The one picture looks like you never played before. It looks like that’s a first timer. Like, how do I hold my stick? What What do I do? What do I do with my hands? What do I do with my hands? I don’t know. The other one looks better. The one on the other one that maybe a little bit get your feet a little bit wider, but you know, I think that that ship has sailed for you, Wally. Like Andy, what do you do if he comes to the Craig Anderson School of Goending? What do you do with the guy? He’s waving at somebody with his glove in the picture. Yeah, I think I take his money and laugh. I think everybody starts out like that at some point, right? I think, you know, he just didn’t have the proper people. His his dad obviously didn’t play goalie, so he didn’t know how to teach him. My dad didn’t want me to play goal. Well, yeah, because the pads weigh 48 lbs each back in the day. Straight deer hair. When it gets wet, it was the worst. When did you first start playing goal, Craig? How old would you have been? Gosh. Uh, probably six or seven, I would think. So, always a goalie. Spring hockey or summer hockey. I’d always skate out as a as a player. And then we got to pee-wee. So, back in the day, pee-wee, you could start checking. And I was skating up the ice with the puck and I got hit and I immediately got off the ice, I think, after that game and said, “I’m done.”
Was the Hockey world denied one of the all-time great goalies when Wally decided to pursue broadcasting? Could Sens wins leader Craig Anderson have steered him to greatness?
