Could have gotten rid of him, lee, pageau and gotten 3-5 legit prospects and a salary dump.. Provided the new GM with real tools to work with.. Instead we're watching other teams in the playoffs and have nothing to show for it
I disagree with most. "Well, we coulda got uh second round pick fer him, duh". The Islanders are going to play 82 games next year. You can't send out 22 AHL and ECHL players in the NHL, or 21 AHL and ECHL players and Calum Ritchie. You need players. Palmieri is a good player, but one who can easily be replaced by a similar player. So if you're gonna dump Palmieri for a similar player, why not just keep Palmieri, who you already have? I'm not saying you sign him to a 7 year deal like Lou would have, but if you can come together on a fair deal for both sides, you do it instead of trying to fish for a replacement and coming up with another Derick Brassard.
