Jeremy Davies, 2024/25 Year End Availability
[Music] We are with the Belleville Senators defensive player of the year, Jeremy Davies, uh with us as we continue through our year-end interviews for 2024 25. An outstanding season. The only senator to play all 72 games this year. Um how did you feel about your first year here in Belleville? Yeah, I loved it. Um I thought we had a really good group of guys here in uh Belleville this year. Uh thought we had a great coaching staff as well. And uh the boys battled uh battled until the end there. So uh a lot to take out of this year and had a lot of fun. Yeah. Uh you were pretty familiar with the North Division obviously with a couple of seasons in Rochester, but um how was it from from this side of things uh maybe being back north of the border too? Uh it’s pretty much the same. You know, you get to go on those same road trips uh playing those same ranks. um a lot of familiar ranks, you know, so uh I was pretty comfortable uh playing playing a lot of those games this year. Uh because, you know, like you said, I was in Rochester for two years there. So, um I love this division. It’s a lot of fun and um it’s obviously super competitive as we saw this year. Yeah, I I was going to say that’s uh that’s something we’ve just come to expect from the North Division. You almost have to just prepare yourself for the fact that the last three weeks of the season are going to be uh pretty insane. Yeah, it always always seems to come down to the wire every year. Um I know it was disappointing not to make the playoffs um this year. You were a member of the leadership group here. Um how uh proud are you of the the team’s just effort all season long. There was all kinds of different adversity faced by this group um from October right through to the end of the year. Yeah, really proud. Uh I think if you look our team uh you know a lot of indiv individuals uh got better as the season season season went along and um like I said we battle until the end. So you know it’s good to see a lot of those young guys take a step forward and I think they’re going to be that much better next season. Yeah. Uh I wanted to actually ask about some of those young guys because the guys like Jory and Donovan and Jabil Toué had to play some massive minutes for firstear defenders. um how did you feel they kind of handled that spotlight and maybe what type of uh um you know tips, tricks are you able to pass along to to young guys like that? Yeah. No, I I think for sure they both went through a lot of learning there um you know initially uh especially early in the season, but as as we saw over the past month or two, their game really took a step forward and they were both able to really play you know a full-time role with us and really contribute. So, um you know what I harp on with them is just simplifying their game and making the game easy on you. Um cuz when you start kind of um trying to do different things out there, uh you know, you can really complicate things and uh you know, spend a lot more time in your Dzone than you want to. Yeah. Would you say that was kind of the key to your uh your season as well? A careerhigh in points and assists, just keeping it simple. Um yeah, I would I would say uh having Bon Joani there to pass the puck to us always helps too, right? So um but uh no, keeping it simple for sure. Um you you you you know, you want to make the you know the first play that you see out there and kind of move the puck up the ice and just simplify your game. Um what does your your summer look like? Uh we know everybody’s training. Uh it seems like everybody’s golfing. How will you spend your time? uh skate and work out every day at 5:00 a.m. Okay. Um and then uh do it all over again at in the afternoon. So, uh no, the two a days. Um no, just uh take it easy for the next month pretty much and um you know, maybe a couple weddings here and there and uh a little travel the wife too. So, uh take it easy and then uh start ramp things back up for next season in uh July and August. Yeah. Uh where’s home for you in the offseason? uh Montreal, right? Yeah. Nice. Awesome. Right on. Well, lots to do there and uh obviously lots of training to do if you’re going to be on the two a days. So, uh that’s awesome. But yeah, it’s been uh it’s been great having you this year. It was a whole lot of fun to watch you excel the way you did and and really lead this blue line. So, uh thanks for those contributions and of course your time here. Yeah, thanks for a great season.
