TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss Jakub Dobeš suffering a loss in his first career playoff start, whether the start was an impossible situation for Dobeš, how hard Tom Wilson is to handle when he’s at his best, and whether the Canadiens deserved a better fate on Sunday.

That hit on Carrier wasn’t clean. Saying it was is absolute BS
Clean hit, Carriere wasn't aware of it coming. Wilson had a night and Caps won. Habs need to score.
It was a beautiful hit.
Carrier should have stayed down and waited for a whistle.
When we say that a hit changes the game completly that was it
Delusional if you think the Canadiens were out playing the Washington Capitals. The capitals were out shooting and out playing them five on five.
If the Caps power-play would have showed up in the least bit, this would have been a blowout
Best Power Forward in the game.
Canadians were scared on the ice. The hits from Ovi and Wilson sapped their confidence.
How did they deserve a better fate? They got dominated at 5 on 5. They somehow scored 2 goals in the 2nd period where they only had 4 shots total that period. Winning that game wouldve been stealing one, not what they deserved with how badly they got outplayed at even strength
In NHL hockey, Rule 42 defines charging. It's a penalty, potentially minor or major, given to a player who skates, jumps into, or charges an opponent violently, especially when using excessive distance and speed to deliver a hit. The severity of the penalty can be determined by the officials and may include a major penalty and game misconduct, or even a suspension if the charging results in an injury.
Capitals are the new Broadstreet Bullies. What a shame.
Someone explain to me how comments are saying its a clean hit from Wilson when the hit was all over the face of Carrier
wilson is such a little baby you touch him he flops we get a penalty but he could smoke our guys and nothing.. hell he can grab our players stick throw it again NOTHING. these refs are total garbage and should be fired along with that goof bettman
What a load of crap. Dobes played well, but it's hard to play against the referees.
Regardless of the consequences. Anderson should have smashed his his face in. Wilson is shit scared of Xhekaj or Anderson.
Supposedly last few yrs Wilson has been 'warning' guys by yelling on big hits. You can kinda hear "heads" during play. If true, how do all haters below feel? Mad respect to him. I was gonna rant on the call. It's maybe only charging cause it looks bad, but he's not skating/strides or jumping off ice. Trust me when I say the NHL is against cdn teams. Sadly a clean hit. Hockey is dangerous. Like football.
Is 2 bling side hits in a game.
The hit was clean. Stop complaining.
One of the big factors analysts kept noting was the size difference between the two teams – and this is what they meant.
Wilson 6'4" 220 lbs hitting a guy that's 5'11" 175 lbs. If you know a little bit about physics, you know that's not going to end well.
I’m done with hockey, been watching since I was 4 & I’m 53 now…endless blows to head “intent to injure”…time to enjoy life without hockey
The Mangiapane goal was simply bad team defense followed up by the goalie being put in a near Catch-22 (Catch 8-88 Ovi and Mangia). At that moment you have the puck carrier, dangerous, and you have a nigh 900 regular season goal scorer. You're not expected to make that save, and if you do…. you're a legend
Dirty player always has been
All hail the glorious Capitals
Ovi and Wilson have unleashed the fury! Caps in 5!
Montreal hits a player(or even looks at) a penalty – Washington hits a player no penalty. The referees don't want the Habs to hit like in game 3 but Capitals it's OK. TWO different standards – referees also ruined game 2 with the phony icing call and no penalty for interference or cross checking on Laine at the centre ice line.
No, the lack of experience was obvious since the 1st goal which was mishandled by Dobes in a slapstick way. He had to go off the crease and save the puck but he waited for it in the box instead and offered the chance to his opponent. Other then the lack of experience Montreal became passive in the last part of the game and even stopped hitting back what they did in the 1st and 2nd… And the most important thing – the refs were bought by Capitals.
Carrier his ass off the ice 🧊 😅
“Feels like Montreal deserved a better fate” for what? They were terrible 5 on 5. Caps stupid penalties are the only thing keeping them in that game. They tried to shell it up 3rd period and got out classes. They didn’t deserve shit.
If you don’t see caps being favored by the refs your blind ..
OV was head hunting….dirty
Time for MSL to take the chains off Xhekaj and let him play his game….and pummel Wilson and Ovechkin
100% head hit
wilson a spineless coward scared to drop the gloves with Arber or Anderson.
lol all these soft hockey players in the chat, that’s hockey baby!
marty, shush
I'm so tired of everyone crying "penalty" every time they don't like a hard hit. It's part of game. It's ridiculous how many play by play guys say "well, there was no call" after a good, clean hit.
Wilson clearly gives hit to the head, intent to injure ! Refs and others who comment here are blind.
Host is weird
Its a good clean hit. According to habs fans, they should have finished 82-0 because every time they lose its the refs fault.
just keep underestimating the caps ,there was no tougher grind that most of the caps went through than last year and the carry over is a tough team with scoring. that is why they just dont panic
.better fate?, you just pointed out 18 shots, no 5 on 5 pressure ,only when they had pp with an extra skater do they have a chance against washington. if not for montenbeau who was amazing, caps score at least 6 in first two games and were exhausted by 3rd period with all the energy spent and chances missed in the first two periods. montreal has a lot of pieces just not enough yet, they will be giving the east something to worry about for years, just not this year.
Utter bullshit predatory hit. Love how 'tough' guys make their best hits when people dont see them coming. Pussies.
Us older Caps fans remember the decades of mediocrity, a big part of which was being on the receiving end of physical play and big hits like this. This was especially true for us in the playoffs which was usually one and done early in the 1st round. It's why we not only LOVE Ovi but Tommy as well, something the haters will never understand.
