What do all of the playoff teams have the RWs don't? Stifling defenses. Many college teams have better defenses than Yzerman's put together in 6 years. Oh well.
Seider: Seider has a pretty good year as easily our best defenseman. He continues to improve each year, which is what I expected. I have him in meeting because he performed exactly as I expected.
Berggren: Berger was very disappointing this year. He had a few flashes of brilliance, (breakaway coming out of the box to score on I believe Columbus) but overall he did not provide the scoring punch I thought it would. I was thinking he'd get at least 20 goals, but he didn't sniff that. I have him in failing because he was mostly invisible.
Kasper: This is a very easy above and beyond for me. Going into the season, it didn't look like he was even going to be on the roster. He earned a spot top line winger, and then transitioned to 2C. I think we drafted him to be a 2C eventually, but to get it in his rookie year is impressive, but also shows the lack of Wings depth. Needs to work on faceoffs, but other than that, he was excellent.
Compher: Is there a better example of falling? He was a send line guy last season, but got demoted to the fourth line. He was completely invisible this season.
Gustafson: Wow, he did nothing. I didn't have too high of expectations, but they were much higher than what I expected. He failed my expectations.
Holl: I mean, he's in meeting for me because I expected him to be terrible, and he was. I'm worried about the Wings defensive prospects of none of them could take Holl's spot. He's easily the worst defenseman on the team, but that was exactly what I expected.
