Any bike will break if you ride it hard enough. I worked in down hill bike racing for half a decade. I've seen every frame break. Yeti, Trek, Specialized, Huffy, Mongoose, it doesn't matter.

There should be a core inside the carbon layers.even foam would make it less likely to snap like that. Coosa board would be ideal imo.
I have done that to an aluminum frame. Luckily, my dad can weld Aluminum.
