There's a good reason that Carolina is near the bottom in number of blocked shots: when you don't allow many possessions or shot attempts, there just aren't as many shots to block in the first place. If you look at the percentage of shot attempts that are blocked, the numbers are much closer and Carolina is no longer an outlier. For example, Carolina blocked 26.23% of NJ's shot attempts, whereas NJ blocked 26.44% of Carolina's shot attempts. Washington blocked 30.03% of Montreal's shot attempts, and Montreal blocked 23.74% of Washington's shot attempts, so that series was a little more lopsided in shot blocks. I expect that Washington will have more shot blocks in this series simply because Carolina puts more shots on net, especially from the point where shot blocks are more common.

I’m rooting for the caps in this. All my favorite coyotes are getting rings. Hill, Kuemper, and OEL. Strome and Chychrun need theirs next. Ovi getting another to go with the scoring title would be dope.
Canes have always had our number, even in periods when we were president trophy winners and they were missing playoffs. Confident we can bully them but it’s gonna be a hard series to win.

Canes have more depth and speed to overcome and older team like the capitals. Especially with Canes pp finding it's groove and pk staying solid.
Looks like stat wise Canes had the advantage in every category except blocked shots.

As a longtime Caps fan I would say first round mvp Wilson or Thompson. Wilson because he changed the series with one shift and one hit. Thompson because he kept the Caps in the game with big saves allowing the game 4 come back. Just my two cents.
I'll go Canes in 6/7. I expect a physical series. We can't afford to have our goalies look shaky and our top guys can't go flat.

Life long Caps fan. Carolina is the only team I didn't want the caps to face. This will be a tough series for the. Wish we had Ferhevarry. Our pk suffers without him. Good luck to both teams.
As a Caps fan, we play Cane's poorly. We don't match up well. I think Cane's win in 5 actually.
I am more thrill because I have an autographed "Blue Weagle" Bondra jersey autographed by Bondra himself.
The April 3rd game was also notable because Logan Thompson was injured. He didn't return until The first game of the playoffs vs. Montreal.
Think the Canes will most likely take it but I hope it goes 7 this will be a good series
The Canes are low in blocked shots because they just don’t allot a lot of shots. They routinely lead the opposing team in shots by a significant margin. You can’t block shots that aren’t taken.
So your "hope", is that the Capitals win. gotcha lol.
fair refs: canes win. but i doubt at capitals home ice the refs will call things evenly both ways and every time theres a penalty. especially with the way the refs have been for all series this year so far

As a Canes fan I’m good with the Caps being the favorite. This is familiar underdog territory for us, and this is usually when the Canes do their best. I don’t feel comfortable whenever we’re favored 😣. Apparently we didn’t have a chance against them in 2019 so I like that kind of talk 😎👍🏽

Now Ovechkin can fight a man instead of a kid in 2019. Could be a heck of a fight now with both being grown men. Still, I can see ovie knocking him out even at 39 cause ovie is very difficult to hit the way he burries his head between shoulders while throwing blows. Would love another knockout for Ovechkin and him not feeling bad about it like last time.
