LL had all the time in the world, he’s 83. His vision is inept.I think Roy is tired of covering for franchises decisions. Unless there is a major shift, I can see Dobson seeking alternative
If Malkin isn't prepared to hand out the pink slip to Lou, we are in a seriously precarious situation. Lou is out-of-touch. Yes, a few good trades but a totally broken system for the future.
My dear ISLANDERS fans… NO owners MO gm NO coach NO players……we SUCK… Never see inside of UBS arena …live 4 miles away….no thank you…
LGI❤
Gm Gil. Finishing in the bottom 10 is not the muddy middle. This team is one of the worst managed and performing teams in the league. There are going to be numerous opportunities to undo this debacle and I expect this team to score numerous own goals and screw up the offseason. Fire Lou and Roy. Buy out the contracts of Barzal, Mayfield, and Lee. Trade the entire Defensive core in Pelech, Pulock, and Dobson. Trade Palmeri.
I think the problem is accountability, from the top to the bottom. There is none. If no changes are made the attendance will be a lot worse then it already is. When that happens visiting players will notice and we will be back to the old days of no free agents wanting to come here. So it's time to hold Malkin accountable, if he doesn't fire Lou, don't show up for games.
Hate to tell you this. Lou’s not going anywhere. Having said that will he finally change philosophy. At this stage that’s not likely.
sell the team…….NOW
It should be abundantly clear that changes at all levels need to be made and I hope that ownership's silence means that efforts are being made to find the right options for hockey operations. It's funny – team needed a new building that was inhibiting progress for 25 years and now they can't find the right people to lead the ship when they have a new building…
Been down this road before. 10 bucks a ticket. My own section. Ice girls. And a band. But a lousy team
I'd love to see this team do well but I think its -rebuild time. I think this team lacks skill to be anything over a bottom 15 team. Roy was the greatest goalie of all time but just a mediocre coach. He cant compare to Trotz who is a first ballot hall of fame coach. Lou has ups and downs in his career, like you said he did great his first few years but I think its time for change. We need someone who is willing to take risks and send players out who need a change or Islanders need a change of scenery.
If they make some crucial signed like Ekblad and high skill players like that, its possible to be a playoff team since we have the hardest piece to find in Sorokin.
Must build from Sorokin out, Sorokin is the Franchise player. Barzel is not a franchise player, he isnt a leader & isnt there in crucial moments.
Lou ran this team into the ground. Time to move on from Lou. LGI
I want want to see Lou walk away in the next few weeks under his terms. I don’t want him to have another position with this team, especially if it is a fancy title and little to no influence on operations. Malkin can spend that $ elsewhere. If Lou doesn’t walk on his terms then Malkin needs to stand up and say “thanks, but it’s time for a change.” I think with Roy’s success at QMJHL he can bring this team into the mix as cup contenders within a few years. He obviously will need to bring in all of his own people to make it work and hopefully make some significant trades.
Hi Gil! The reason we have a “Doom and gloom” attitude is because we have no faith in this Gm. If someone else would take over we would feel some ease because our prospect pool has drastically improved. Like you said Gil, we are stuck because of all the crap contracts and term, along with allowing these aging vets to get resigned. Gil if this Gm remains, he will not trade Lee and JG—-there is so much money that could have been freed up and now we’re gonna give it away to sign Palmeri, Dobson, Lee and JG—-irrational? No absolutely an insane approach. My hopes are fading that Malkin will let Lou go—-he can stay but not as GM!! Wonder why we haven’t had a major star player since 93? Every fan base deserves that one superstar! We haven’t had that in forever—it’s not hard to figure out why we haven’t won in so long. So many teams have that 1/2 star punch. All I’m asking for is one! Take care Gil—great show as always!
Hey Gil – Plain and simple the Direction of this team needs to change !
Knowing that there are prospects 2 to 3 years away from being NHL ready really doesn't matter if they are not properly developed into future NHLers.
Bridgeport has become somewhat of a developmental abyss these past few years.
Which is why most of the prospects the Islanders have are choosing to either stay in college or in juniors.
The ONLY way that this improves up and down the organization from the big club to their ECHL team in Worcester starts at the top.
I'm sorry but I have absolutely no faith in Lou Lamoriello anymore.
And I trust Chris Lamoriello in Bridgeport even less.
Scott Malkin needs to come out of hiding and make the decisions that need to be made.
I'd like for Patrick Roy to remain as coach but let him pick his own assistant coaches.
Coaches that can vastly improve the Islanders special teams woes.
So I'll be sitting on pins and needles during this off-season hoping for the changes that not just me but many Islanders fans have been clamoring for.
We'll watch and wait to see what happens.
The culture is the issue with this organization. It is a country club atmosphere with aging players signed to long term contracts and NTC's. What is their incentive to show up every night? That was the reason you had all the inconsistencies during the year that led to that Meh 500 record. The owners don't care about the product on the ice they wanted the land/real estate. That's the reason why nothing has been done so far and why nothing will be done to address any of this I'm afraid.
A few years ago we were close to a Cup We need a new voice a new vision. I want to go and see The Arena have not been there yet not going to pay a lot of money for tickets food and parking for a below average team. Malkin has to look at The Winnipeg Jets watched there game boy they are big and fast as is The Kings.
The mighty-Island must,
get younger, get a higher level of skill with more depth, and new management to take a new direction. Truth is, it's a .500 team, there doesn't need to be a re-build – the team has solid pieces and a few talented minor leaguers (who must be on the team next year, George, and the guy they got for Brock defiantly), a couple of tweaks and a Barzal trade away from being back in the chase.
Stop buying the $18 beer. Stop buying the jerseys and merch. Ownership does not care about winning. They simply want a few post season home games and be in the black. There's literally no other explanation for keeping Lou this long. PS, Lou is going nowhere.
what a joke from top to bottom its sickening watching them been a fan since 1980 from Canada
Do we still know if Scott Malkinson has diabetes?
