Seattle is in an interesting spot as a good team that isn’t good enough for the playoffs, not bad enough to end up with a #1 pick either. If they win Monday’s lottery, that would help.

Seattle needs to find a coach that can work with and develop young talent. I thought it was a mistake to fire Bylsma given Wright’s progression, Kakko thriving, Evan’s having a good rookie season and Nyman looking great in his games at the end of the season. Either way whoever is the next coach needs to continue that.
Ron Francis is a hack executive.
The term of the Stephenson signing is particularly baffling since they clearly want Matty and Shane to be 1&2 C but the length of Stephenson’s contract means either Shane spends years as a 3C or Stephenson is gonna end up as an incredibly well-paid 3/4C. I genuinely don’t understand why they didn’t try to get someone on a 4/5 year deal
I still feel firing Hakstol was premature after one bad year following taking them deeper than expected into the playoffs year two. I feel the same about Bylsma. If this was the plan, then just leave him in Coachella. Now several teams have openings so options over SEA for the available coaches. Better to start Bylsma year five and see how it goes and then fire him. I still think Botterill didn’t want to keep him based on their past history together…
Probably a bottom five team next year?
GOATEST GOAT of all GOAT time!!!!!!
If stephenson and martinez finished careers in vegas we would be major contendors
Ive followed you since Fleury was expansion draft fodder. Have love hockey since 92. Ihave thought of you as the goat since 2020???? I can no afford to directly support you and your fam! Keep up the amazing love for the game! Sry about Vancouver….. XO
I tend to root for players more than teams, back in the day I was a big fan of Saku Koivu. So when he moved from Canadiens to Ducks, my interest followed along. I noticed the same thing happening with Kakko, there's something about his play that I really like.
Campbell is going to be the head coach.
As a Swede, I'll never understand why wins and losses are a stat for goalies (we don't keep that as a stat in Swedish hockey leagues). A team wins or loses, not one player on the team. That said – Seattle was different with Grubauer in net (just like the Jets).
See what they get in the draft and go from there
Seattle is in such a tough spot for the immediate future, less because of where they themselves are at, and more because of teams around them. Unless there's a major shakeup in LA (or elsewhere), I don't really see the divisions' top 3 changing. That leaves the wild cards. We got STL and MIN this year. I don't see any reason to think that both those teams aren't even better next year. Then you've got Utah knocking on the door, they'll be fully branded next year and they have an owner who is hungry, they'll have room to add, etc. You've got Calgary poised to be in that discussion now. Vancouver still has the talent to be a playoff team, they probably would have been this year if Hughes just stayed healthy. Hawks and Sharks probably still a few years out, but the Ducks could be a surprise wild card contender next year. They have an extremely bright future. Then there's also Nashville, who the hell knows what might happen there. I really just don't see much reason to be excited for Seattle moving forward, but I'd love to be proven wrong as I do like rooting for them as a secondary team after my Panthers.
Campbell is a good coach but I hope they keep her in a role where she can still work directly with the young players. she's a big reason the team even has a (somewhat) promising future
Going into a year where it seems like there won't be too many truly awful teams in the league, the Kraken would be perfectly poised to go for the 1-year tank. Lotta young guys who could use the ice time, lotta vets with 1 or 2 years left on their contracts who could be traded. Then go out and spend some of the returns on prospects who are a couple years out from their draft but are stuck behind vets on contending teams. The team would probably be bad enough to be top 3 lottery odds, but be poised to grow and improve the following year with a ton of cap space
Love the winter classic jersey!
I think the name of the game for seattle is patience. We're gathering young(er) talent and I think the worst thing we could do would be to rush it. I agree with lenaburch6566 that Stephenson's term is odd considering my previous point.
I think if we rush everything, we'll end up being a perpetual 90ish point first round exit team year after year. If we play our cards right, I think we end up looking more like montreal and then dallas in the long run.
Seattle had the 5th most games with 5 goals or more.
They also got shut out the 6th most.
It was sink or swim.
That winter classic jersey is my favorite jersey in league, full stop. Like everyone else, I really hope they don't hire Laviolette as HC. They're probably best off tanking for the next season or two, looking for a couple of high picks, and then going for it right afterwards.
Relocate the team. I hate these recent expansion teams.
Shane Wright should demand ungodly amounts of money when his contract is up and get out of that dumpster fire franchise. Putting him on the fourth line at the end of the year when he was second in scoring, with less games played than Beniers is gross
What a time to be half decent free agent. A 28 year old winger winger with 25 points is looking for 12 million for 3 years.
Seattle should go after Torts
