I definitely see both Bordeleau and Gushchin as passed by prospects and expect them to maybe be trade pieces this summer due to the weak UFA class. It doesn't help that they are both small and the previous regimes picks so Grier probably doesn't feel attached to them at all, especially considering he has brought in much better players from the same draft. I agree with you in that to be a small player you have to bring something else to the game to stand out and be hard to replace, a 5'8" 170lbs bottom 6 "non skilled" guy isn't gonna cut it the majority of the time. DW and company were pretty good at drafting reaches or one dimensional players or high risk guys, I do not miss those days hahaha!!
Are you guys going to be doing another interview with the head of scouting, talking about all the picks and how their years were like you last year?
safe to say the sharks fans have PTSD from groin injuries as of late. hope Shaq can recover fully and avoid future injuries
A very good review of this draft class JD thanks! GMMG managed to get a few from the class to fill the gaps left by the previous regime. I do hope they retain Bords as I think he may have a future as a third line player and Gush is needed on the Cuda.
Looking forward to your next episode!
I feel like at this point most players from this draft have been heavily outpaced by the players Grier has brought in. We all know DW was trying to find the next Pavelski in later rounds, which is fair considering where he was drafting. GMMG has made it pretty clear what his vision is for the team, add players that bring a mix of size and skill with the exception of a few smaller players that have elite play making abilities. Love Bords and Gush but I don’t think they can compete with the guys that are going to be in the sharks lineup in the next 1-3 years (musty , chernychov, Lund, ect)
The 22 class is looking a lot stronger with Lund getting NHL action and not looking too out of place! Him and Bysted will not be more than bottom 6 depth but they have shown they can be high upside bottom 6 depth pieces and same for Cardwell.
2020 draft looked promising but has fallen flat on its face.
