The final series we have been waiting to look at – it’s the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Florida Panthers! If this game is anything to go by it’s been a tremendous series. What are your thoughts?

I just realised I forgot to play a video I mentioned at the start! Sorry – will try to include it in a future video.

  1. That commentator is ''sure'' 'cause they usually sit up high and in front of the benches, they see mouvements of coaches. You can tell when a coach is calling a challenge.

  2. The PUCK is the first thing that has to enter the offensive zone. The PUCK is what you want to look at. You can ''Offside'' yourself if you skate backwards with the puck, and your skates come in before the puck.

  3. A play is offside when:
One or more players on the attacking team cross the blue line into the offensive zone before the puck does.

    In simple terms:
If your skates go over the blue line into the other team's zone before the puck crosses it—whistle blows. You're offside.

    Exceptions & Clarifications:
It’s not about your stick or body, it’s where your skates are.
Both skates must be FULLY inside the offensive zone before the puck for it to count as offside.
If a player is already in the zone and the puck leaves and comes back in, everyone has to clear (get back out) before re-entering—this is called "tagging up."

  4. SAF The easy way to understand it is if you understand how offside works in footie/soccer then the blue line in hockey is the equivalent of the back defender.

There have been some good in depth write ups already but this is the simple way to remember it.

  5. Offsides is simply when an offensive player has completely crossed the blue line before the puck. Loving the content, keep it up!

  6. I heard offsides described to kids really simply: the offensive zone (past the nearest blue line to the goal you shoot at) is "locked" and the puck completely crossing the blue line unlocks it for the offense to enter it.
