Damn boy, you gotta admit Lucic was running away from Laraque, but I'm not saying it was wrong. Losing Lucic for 5 minutes can hurt the Bruins and the Canadiens would've had the advantage on that fight. Right now though I don't see anyone in Montreal who could fight Lucic. As for the Bruins winning the cup… I don't think so. Even though I don't like them I'd put my money on Pittsburgh.

Laraque is top 20 all-time, at the very minimum. Some would rate him higher. He fought anyone and everyone. Belak, Boogaard, Brashear, Cairns, Chara, Fedoruk, Grimson, McCarthy, McGrattan, Orr, Shelley, Simon, Thornton, Twist, Worrell. Probert, Domi..maybe you've heard of them? Lucic isn't anywhere near the fighter anyone on that list is. Laraque is WAY out of his class.
those guys you named are all goons (except Chara)…..Lucic is a 30 goal-man….why the hell would he fight any of those guys? his coach would kill him, and for good reason…in hockey they call that a bad trade-off.
This is the major issue I have with people that defend Lucic, no matter what. You get 5 minutes in the box regardless of who you fight. He had no problem fighting Komisarek, then taunting the bench. Yet wanted NO part of BGL. Anyone that thinks he's in the same league as LaRaque, is kidding themselves. The Bruins had to make up some public relations stories about how he was ordered not to fight BGL. Riiiiiiiiiiight…sounds believable.
you need to re-read what I wrote….I never said he would take GL in a scrap…I stated, that fighting him would be a bad trade-off…at the time, Komisarek was a big part of the habs team, so getting him off the ice for 5 min was a good thing…getting Laraque off the ice for 5 min helps the habs….same can be said about Orr, Boogaard, Belak, Brashear, Cairns, Fedoruk (like he belongs on this list!), Grimson, McCarthy, McGratten, Shelley, Simon, Twist, and Worrel.
