My first time seeing the St Louis Blues take the ice and also seeing the Winnipeg Jets at full strength with it all on the line! How has this series been progressing for you and what did you think of this game?

The Jets have had great regular seasons to get into the show, but the playoffs are a different animal entirely. They lack deep post season experience and it shows on the ice. This year they won the Presidents trophy for finishing no#1 in the league and evoked the "curse", teams that win it get blown out and never make it to the final round. In 39 years only 8 teams have managed to do both, starting with the Edmonton Oilers in 86-87'
''Collects it as it's coming in…'' try:''ONE-TIMES IT''.

Fun to see some slapshots, they were once the norm for power plays, but are less common now. If you watch the replays you'l see what makes them so powerful. The player makes a full swing, but never hits the puck directly. They hit the ice behind the puck, which bends the shaft of the stick, strong energy along the way. They carry through to hit the puck at excactly the same moment their stick starts moving forward freely from the ice, so the player hits the puck right as the energy stored in the flexed shaft of the stick releases. In the early nineties, players like Al McInnis were so skilled at this that players feared them, he was a defence man – in the Flames, he was partnered with Gary Suter who also had a pretty good shot. The Flames power play – other team too – was pretty much based around the forwards getting in front of the net, and keep passing it back to McInnis or Suter to take slap shots. In one playoff McInnis was the leading scorer in the entire league for most of the playoffs.
The Blues are hot at the right time. They could go far. Binnington was the goalie for Canada.
Winnipeg is missing two of their best offensive players due to injury. One, Vilardi, should be able to play on Wednesday. That should help. Winnipeg has been having trouble in the playoffs in recent years despite outstanding regular seasons. Hopefully, they will push through this year. It should be noted that the Blues are one of the hottest teams in the league since the break.
The Blues D corp has thousands of games experience and hundreds of playoff games as well. Binner IS the big game goalie. Monty's loves the game strategy but Arniel looks kinda like he is not having any fun.
Does anyone want to tell him that Nathan Walker of the St Louis Blues came to the NHL from his neck of the woods? Most ferocious little guy you will ever see!!!
