How Miro Heiskanen Can END Series Against Avalanche | DLLS Stars Podcast

The Dallas Stars have been without the services of Miro Heiskanen, their number defenseman, since January 28th, when he suffered a serious knee injury on a collision with Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone in a game at T-Mobile Arena. Heiskanen underwent a surgery to repair the injury and has been quietly rehabbing his way back to health. As Stars began their first round playoff series with the Colorado Avalanche, it felt like Heiskanen’s recovery timeline was too far off for him to be considered until at least the second round, if not later. However, in the last week he has been taking noticeable steps towards a return to action, including making the trip to Denver with the team for Games 3 and 4. While he didn’t play in Game 3 on Wednesday night, the chances of Heiskanen suiting up against the Avs at some point seem more and more possible. Which begs the question for our DLLS Stars Podcast crew of Craig Ludwig, Owen Newkirk & Sam Nestler: would Miro Heiskanen’s return to action be extra tipping point for the Stars to sink the Avalanche?

  1. We don't need Miro right now. Rather him get another 2 weeks hopefully of recovery time. Playing against the blues or jets is going to be a gauntlet and we'll need him then.

  2. No, it won't be the death nail, but it will make it that much harder for them. The great part here is that Miro has had all that rest unlike last year when by the time they made it to the WCF, he was exhausted. Now they have a chance to cut back Harleys minutes, so he's not beat down on a long run.

  3. Thanks Sam, Luds and Owen, interesting discussion, and it would be a nice bonus to see Miro back, I agree, he has to be close to 90%. As much as I'd love to see Miro back, I'm not holding my breath. Hope the boys can stay out of the penalty box, keep the pressure on the Avs, it really does wear them down and they start making mistakes. Hope we see more success hit the back of the net! Go Stars Go!

  4. I think what the Stars need is for a couple of players to get hot. Maybe if Wyatt and Roope start to get hot then it might be too much for Colorado, but Colorado is such a great team……who knows. What if Cale Makar suddenly gets hot for the Avs? It is just so unpredictable.

  5. I would not Gamble on Heiskanen coming back this series. They should calm the situation, these are the guys that we have and we will succeed or fail with this line up. If Dallas gets through, they will get more and healthier firepower to next series.

  6. I wouldn't expect to see Miro back in this series unless it goes to 7 games. With him just now starting to see some contact in practice they're not going to push it, especially with the Stars leading the series right now.
