I think the Flyers haven't recovered from losing Carter Hart.
Flyers could really use Misa or Schaefer. A number 1 defenseman or center would be huge for their rebuild
Everybody knows that Fedotov was paid big money because they had it in a bag labeled "bribe people to get Michkov over early".
Please don't bring in Tocchet. And if they bring in Quennville, this team is dead to me after 50 years of watching.
I say give Shaw a year. Keep consistency in the room, see who comes up in camp. See if a draft pick hits. And then if they got a top 5 pick in 2026 it wouldn't be the end of the world. But I can see this being a midrange team, below playoff line if the anchor that was Fedotov and the diaster that was Kolosovs's attitude are gone. I personally think Kolosov showed more fundamental NHL goalie ability than Fedotov, but only when he felt like it.

What ever happened with Fedotov? I thought he was supposed to be a generational talent. I know it took years for him to come over. But wasn’t he projected to be a star?
Danny Briere finally got rid of the Rocky Thompson Horror show (He was working the Power Play for the last few years). That alone should help our PowerPlay. Goaltending went south as soon as the whole Carter hart thing became public knowledge. He basically hid those bad thing under the Fletcher administration. As for Michkov, Torts pretty much killed his Calder hopes with the lack of playing time and the benching of the two games (For no reason mind you) earlier in the season. If he was playing the correct minutes he would have ran away with the Calder trophy instead of it going to Lane. Personally I hope they get a Veteran goaltender for a bridge type a deal via FA (Rittich or Lyon maybe?) or trade. Ersson just is not a starter like you mentioned. I do somehow hope they Kuzmenko back from LA. I hated that we traded him at the deadline. As for coach, Shannon I wish you had the Bruins fire Jim Montgomery at the end of the season because I would have clamored to get him in Philly ASAP, Everyone is clamoring for Tocchet as he was another former Flyer but I really do not want him. Put me into the Sullivan camp since I do not think Carle will leave or stick with Brad Shaw and give him a bridge deal. We Need 1C (and 2C imo unless Coots comes back fully healthy), 1D and 1G badly for this team compete. Also get someone to play with Michkov as well. Although TK did a good job. I am a little worried about Tippett going into next season also.

Coots had a very underrated season, especially dealing with the Torts Show the past two years after his surgery
Briere is to blame for not addressing the goaltending. Torts got a raw deal
Draft Frondell or Hagens if possible at 4th overall, if they get the itch sign some short term deals that act as trade bait, and try and gun for another high end pick next year. They're not even close to having the high end talent required to win a Stanley Cup. One more year of pain, and if they can nab another center from that draft class things are shaping up very well. Michkov looks to be a legitimate rising star, and the high pick centers going into a 1C and 2C spot down the road would be invaluable.
Between the pipes this team is waiting for Zavragin to come over from the KHL as of now, with Bjarnasson having the opportunity to show himself next season on the Phantoms. Provided we take centers again this year and next, the D corps will need to be bolstered then but I'd much rather address the center deficit first.
I would love to watch the flyers play in the playoffs . At least I can watch the phantoms 🟠⚫️🏒🥅

Let's make this a genuine rebuild and not rush it. I think we should be steady as we go for one more season and hope to pick up some more top draft picks for next seasons better draft. Only at that point should we then consider starting to make some moves.
To turn this franchise around:
1- Briere needs to go. This franchise continues to put ex-Flyers in positions they have no business sitting in.
2- Get rid of Coots. The Flyers also hang on to players that are way past their prime. See: Giroux, Claude.
3- There needs to be a coach/GM tandem that can handle youth. Fans may rage and pretend they are glad Cutter Gauthier is gone. But management needs to learn how to work with young talent, so players will want to play in Philly. And Gauthier isn't the only one who doesn't want to play in Philly. (Incidentally, Gauthier would have finished 3rd or 4th on the team in scoring had he stayed.)
4- Bring in players who can get this fandom out of the past. It is absolutely pathetic to watch Flyer fans tripping over themselves to climb on the Ottawa bandwagon because of some irrational hope that he'll get a Cup with the Senators. If you need a reminder, Giroux is the guy who, after being named Captain, "led" the team to ONE playoff series victory in 10 years. He had 0 goals in the 2016 playoffs. He was a team-worst minus 10 in 6 games in the 2018 playoffs. In 2020, he had 1 goal in 16 post-season games. It's a sign of how bad this past decade is that fans worship this guy (call it Crosby envy, maybe?). Then he demands a trade to ONLY Florida, and the Presidents Trophy winners get promptly swept by Tampa. Then on to Ottawa, where they miss the playoffs for 2 more years, before finally getting back to the playoffs, where G suddenly can't win a faceoff. GET OVER HIM! HE SUCKS!
It's been a long time for this team. I don't know if they can pull all this off, but it would be a great start if they could.
The Flyers have to have a nice future when they have a roster with Bump, Bonk and Brink.
Torts was a good fit for a team that was becoming increasingly thuggish.
Denver Barkey is one heck of a player. Flyers have a good one there. I see him play a lot here in London with the Knights. On and off the ice… he is beloved.

I heard that goaltender Yegor has one year left on a contract with the team he has been on in the KHL.
they will have 30.9 million in cap space counting Ellis LTIR. I like Cates, Foerster and York but has to be smart deals to reflect how much Michkov is going to cost in 27-28'. So either 2 year bridge deals or ones that won't hurt the cap by then.
Most people say we would take Misa. The need for a 1 C outweighs the need for a 1 D right now.

Last year Flyers had a decent goalie in Hart, a 2 way D Sean Walker who was later traded, and an ok 3rd line in Farabee and Frost (that was also traded this year).
This year they are playing AHL-ers for half of games, that aren’t any good because Flyers have 0 incoming talent other than who they drafted last year, Luchanko and Bonk.
They even had to trade their other prospect for Drysdale because he didn’t want to play for Torts, likely.
Flyers are missing 1st line except for Mitchkov, 1D and they don’t have an NHL goalie.
And they traded a decent nhl line to Calgary to reduce their cap space and never replaced them.
There’s 0% chance they will be good for a couple of year at least, until they figure out their lineup and talent.
Power play is real bad and they got rid of pp coach finally. There’s nobody on a team except TK and Mitch who can skate into a D zone with a puck and complete 5-6 quick passes without losing the puck.
Defense can’t play modern PP, so they even ran 5 forwards PP this year. Maybe Drysdale will improve, maybe not and they’ll need a PP driving D.
The Flyers need the 1st or 2nd pick of this draft. We need Schafer or Misa
could try neutral zone forecheck and puck possession for more offense scoring chances and better coverage back on defense?
There should be more discussion about how the Flyers HANDLE their goalies. Seriously go back and look at the ones that have gone, where they ended up, and how they performed there. Bobrovsky and Stolarz come to mind and I'm sure there are more. I think Ersson is better than his numbers suggest.
You glossed over a HUGE difference between 2023-24 and the 2024-25 season. Last year, we had Carter Hart for half a season which kept us 3rd in the Metro for a long time. This year, none of our 3 goalies were even remotely competent hence why we're last in the East now.
Can't wait to waste cap space on goaltending again just to whine and bitch about it after the season is over. They never have and never will learn…

My vote is for Ian Laperriere. He's done some great things down with the Phantoms and he knows a ton of these kids. Why not try a new voice instead of recycling the same garbage coaches over and over again?

There's no hope for this wretched franchise. Michkov should pull a Patrick Roy and say he played his last game for The Flyers. If only an Elon Musk type could appear and drop $10 billion to fold the franchise.
What’s next? The prospects gain valuable experience during their Calder Cup playoffs and a couple make the jump to the bigs next season. They get better goaltending and a huge second season out of MM. They have about 18 million coming off the books but this is not the off season to spend….make picks and spend some draft capital to bring in a young proven player with more upside. All of this is easier said than done since everyone knows more than all 32 GM’s.
I was watching this team and did not notice the bright spots. Michkov was THE bright spot. Everything else was an outright dumpster fire.

Bump is another upcoming player. Guy is great to watch on and off the ice. I also think we have a desperate need of picking up a #1C (Misa).
