  1. Sad to see Sully leave, but even though it ain't going to happen I love the possibility of Dubas hiring Tortorella. I think it would be entertaining and really interesting to see

  2. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, I feel like with this core things get stale for them under a head coach for so long. We saw it with, Therrien, and Byslma and how much harder they played under new coaching. They also won cups under after those changes, not saying by any means this team is set up for that next year. Do you think it could ultimately light a spark and get them at least contending for the post-season? Dan came in when the season was barely hanging on and they went on a HUGE run in 08-09. Things look bag again, is sid to old? Can sid do it anymore? Coaching change with Sully coming in and completely changes the dynamic of a dying team. Just being hopeful!

  3. Everyone thinks that we are paying the price for Cups with a poor prospect system, but in reality we are paying it by having a second GM in a row, who is just average in his best day. Thanks Sully.

  4. Perceptive presentation DK – Thanks. The concern comes out of the negative reputation foisted on this professional from the Toronto crowd that this man thinks he is a little Napoleon. I think he is a hockey man – and I think this is not an ego move but is a result of two years of failed (three actually but two with Dubas) expectations. I agree that he was sincere in this situation but I think he really wants to win and feels it was time to move on. Is he stubborn? yes. But Sully was also stubborn. He will do well on the next stop. It was a good ride. Thanks Sully!

  5. This was done probably for optics more than anything else. Was going to be a bleak summer otherwise

  6. Just like we all said during the season, great pedigree but hasn't done anything since then. A lot of that has to do with poor assets management, but they desperately need a new voice in that lockeroom

  7. Not sure how Sully got fired before Shelton and Tomlin. They all need to be replaced, but I would have put Sully last of the three.

  8. I am a little stunned in the fact that many haven't embraced Sullivan's departure. This is a results based business, I say that again…BUSINESS! Outside his first 2.3 seasons, the slide had started. All the first round exits, the roller coaster play of the team, etc etc. Sullivan might be a great guy, he might be well liked, but he had to go. Personally I still think he was stuck in his ways, he expected mules to run like horses, or his hound dogs to be greyhounds……his strategy didn't work for the players he had, and when they were ushered out of town many once again became decent players. The Penguins needed a change several years ago, there has been some valuable time been taken off the clock, I embrace his departure, just as i would Letang's, among others…..it's time to turn the page and stopped living on 2016 and 2017. Thanks Sully for those years, enjoy your time in New York! I think when the smoke clears from all this, Dubas is taking the heat for Sullivan who wanted to get out and take a bite out of the big apple, a team that lost their way much like the 2016 Penguins did before they won the cup.

  9. I think the "poor Mike" sentiment is not very pragmatic. 1. Like many of the players, Sully is a multi-millionaire re his time here. Just my OPINION, but I can't feel sorry for someone who has made millions in what is essentially an entertainment biz. 2. Sully will wind up in NY/Bos/Chi making more millions. 3. Dubus is transitioning to a rebuild of sorts. He NEEDS a teaching coach for that. 4. In terms of coaching life in NHL, Sully was here much longer than most. What's the average tenure of an NHL coach? 3 years? Once again JUST MY OPINION. Be blessed y'all. Yashua rules!

  10. Good luck Sully. You are a CLASS ACT. Iam not a maple leafs fan. I am a life long Penguins fan. I commented on Dubas bringing firmer leafs to Pittsburgh. I hope Dubas isn't doing this with someone from his dats in Toronto.

  11. I mean looking back at the season. Letang is a Pittsburgh legend and it didn’t matter how poorly he was performing all season, Sully had him on the ice 24 minutes a night. Bad penalties, blown coverages, giveaways and breakaways. Sully had too much history with these long time players to ever bench them for continual play mistakes. He’d bench different players for all sorts of reasons but veterans who earned his trust could never mess up enough to ride the pine. That lead to complacency and inconsistency.

  12. My brain assumes it has to be with development. Nobody comes up from WBS and sticks, and even if you do, you get traded away. Its not solely on the Pro head coach to develop minor league players, but when they make it to the pro lineup, they should continue growing. For quite some time, Sully shied away from trusting the youth of the organization, perhaps through some sort of self-acknowledgement of his inability to connect. I dont know. Wish Sully the best wherever he goes. ❤️🔥🍻

  13. 5:49 I guess you don’t remember why Babcock got fired. He was playing mental games with and screwing the young stars (Marner) over with his teammates. Babcock turns out an egomaniacal looney and should never coach again….

  14. Every coach has an expiration date, can’t wait to see who is next; hoping that it is someone new young and exciting

  15. Had to be done.
He'll get a new position with either the Rangers or Bruins….sucks for us but he left on good terms. It was the right thing to do. He turned the team around when it mattered and I thank him for that

  16. Sully is going to succeed wherever he goes next. Hopefully we can find the right guy to help us succeed in the next couple years. Feels like a lot of our actions over the last year have been in the same path as Washington for the previous calendar year. We’ll see how it goes
