I cant tell due to this cropped video. But it looked like the Washington player was blocking the ref from seeing exactly what happen. I hate montreal. But still want them to lose fairly 😂.
I think we need to allow players beat up the refs when they miss calls. He was looking right at the scene, so he must be incompetent because he is not protecting good players who fans pay money to see. The bumbling refs are not what fans pay to see, and we don't care about them. If they start taking punches every time the screw up, maybe the problem will be fixed…Either that or we have Xhekaj cross check Ovechkin's face. Which would you rather see?
I don't blame Caufield. This is not even funny, referees need to wake the hell up because this is playoff season, this is serious. They really to focus on the game and to STOP missing calls that need a penalty, and also to stop making weak calls too that don't deserve a penalty.

Capitals didn't deserve to win any of the 2 previous games! Period! Beside the referees highly debatable poor decisions turning into Capitals advantage, their kind of dirty moves drove Canadien team players furious, and deconcentrated on their game. Not only that some moves can lead to serious injuries preventing to be able to play. Capitals are perfectly aware of it and they will use any dirty strategy to win no matter what. I mean the 2 blows crossed check sequence delivered on Cole Caufield face before he collapsed, ending up bleeding was obvious and deserved a minimum 2 minutes penalty. Yet referees didn't call it. Deugh! Also Patrick Layne manifested a big lack of motivation recently. The Finns just isn't there. A logical reason may simply be that he's injured and doesn't see any big interest of taking a risk of ending injured by a dirty shot like the beginning of the season. On a video replay, we can clearly see Layne in pain as his knees is being crunched in a low body check. I mean Come on! WTF is this? Guess it's time for Martin St-Louis to bring the "Sheriff" back on ice and do a bit of cleanup.
