  1. Come on, I’ve been a Canucks fan my whole life. Just be honest, calling Schneider a Canucks legend is a huge stretch.

  2. Ken Holland's 1st Round picks in 2017 (Rasmussen) and 2018 (Zadina) have way more to do with where the Red Wings are today than anything Yzerman has or hasn't done. If you replace Ras with Suzuki and Zadina with literally anyone else, this team is a playoff team right now.

  3. It's kind of crazy to think that people still think talk about SY in a negative light.

The team he inherited in '19 was absolutely atrocious. Couple that with LITERALLY NOTHING in the prospect department, and people are mad that it's taken a bit of time to get to the playoffs?? Steve has said it on numerous occasions that he will NOT sell the future of the franchise in order to MAYBE win a playoff series. If the Redwings compete he wants them to be cup contenders, not fringe playoff teams.

Take a look at the Sens and this first round that they're having. Ask yourselves if you'd rather that be the Redwings' situation, or would you rather wait a few more years and be able to actually compete for the Cup?! 26-27 season will be the beginning of something great in Hockeytown!!

  4. The only think saving Stevie is he played for Wings he will get one more year to do it PLAY OFFS sorry he got make movies

  5. Montreal and ottawas rebuilds were not the same as Detroit’s. Montreal made the cup finals in 2021. Suzuki, Caufield, Evans, Gallagher, and Anderson were all on that team as well as a slew of other players they were able to trade for picks and prospects. Montreal also got a 1st overall pick and had demidov fall to them at 5. Montreal was able to recoup cap with price and Weber retiring/LTIR, then retool by trading vets for young players and picks. Detroit had Larkin bertuzzi and mantha as well as some terrible contracts, no prospects, and vets that anybody wanted. Yzerman took over 3? Years into a failed rebuild with empty cupboards. He has not done a perfect job, but he has done incredibly well at the most important job which is drafting.

  6. What if yzerman's plan was to be competitive but not great or even good while he trusted his draft picks and let them develop and kept getting decently highish picks in the process. He did say he was going to build through the draft. Yes, it's frustrating to have detroit miss the playoffs, but he did say he wasn't going to sacrifice the future for short term gains. Maybe the reason he has a long leash is because he told ownership in order to do it correctly it was going to take close to a decade. Maybe he doesn't and never did envision larkin being part of the team when they will be successful.

  7. I think everyone respects Schneider for what he did with Boston… WAIT! I'm thinkin of Thomas…nevermind😁

  8. Cant be understated how badly the lottery screwed the Wings throughout their rebuild. I think thats the real problem. They have been forced to build a team with mid 1st round picks. Yzerman has to get bold/aggressive to bring in a superstar. Whether its this off-season or next off-season.. some good UFAs are available. He needs to find a way to bring a few of them to Detroit.
