hi Tough Call — i appreciate you bringing this one and the one on Gallagher to everyone's attention but ultimately the League does not care. they want the OV hype train / swan song to keep rolling to the next round. Guarantee if Habs put in Xhejak and he even sneezes in the direction of Caps bench – he will get a penalty.
The league seems to be totally ok with face crosschecks across series. Not just here, however, watching the game tonight, it sure seemed like the Caps got in way too many crosschecks to the face with no repercussions.
This is one of the most abhorrent cases of biased officiating that I have ever witnessed in the NHL in my entire 70 years of watching the game! This kind of officiating makes the series not worth watching since the officiating shows us that the results of the series are already predetermined. Gary Bettman should be absolutely ashamed of himself! We all know what happened to Clarence Campbell at the Forum years ago and I suggest very strongly to Bettman that he does a disappearing act if he ever shows up at the Bell Center!!!
No penalty called because all he did was push him down, he did not check him the stick. Notice the stick is in his right hand as he cleanly hits him. This is legal.
Habs fan. New to the channel. I do think this was a terrible missed call; but 6 to 10 games? Not throwing shade or anything, just wondering where this scale comes from.
Not a crosscheck because it's more like a push. Also not a high stick because it's the part of the stick between his hands. Probably should have given Caufield a penalty for diving, because that fall looked very dramatic for a situation where no one absolutely did anything illegal against him.

These missed calls are starting to pile up! A penalty called there mightve changed the game.

Its telling everyone (hopefully not the kids) crosscheck to the FACE is ok during the playoffs….really refs!!!
No one is ever held accountable in the opaque world of NHL officiating.
