@Tampa Bay Lightning

This was completely unnecessary

The Battle of Florida is in full force! With the Florida Panthers bringing it to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2 opening games of this series, the Lightning have hit a boiling point. Tonight, they went 0-5 on the powerplay and Branden Hagel seemingly out of frustration, took a run at the Panthers captain Sasha Barkov laying a massive hit while he didn’t even have the puck. Barkov left the game and did not return as Hagel received a 5 minute major penalty. This hit, especially being that it was on their Captain Barkov is sure to add fuel to the fire for game 3 when they matchup again in Sunrise. Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Marchand were making promises at the end of the game that they are coming after Kucherov, so it should make for fireworks! I cover it all and more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. It’s celebrated when the Rats play dirty, but it’s severely punished on a clean hit if your a Lightning player, Rats are lucky Vasy doesn’t punish players who get too close to his net, Rats wouldn’t have a healthy player left by the end of the first period

  2. A Florida v Toronto rematch would be fine by me. My Leafs are all puffed up over beating …Ottawa? They need a good dose of Florida sunshine.

  3. As a Lightning fan, this series is so damn frustrating. At this rate, I’m seriously worried about Kucherov given the comments some of the Panthers were making about retaliation

  4. That's the problem with NHL Playoff Hockey, they're all trying to hurt or kill each other. Someday someone will die on the rink … in a Playoff game.

  5. Playoff refs are terrible. In the leaf Ottawa game nulandeer was tackled from behind without the puck and no call

  6. Oh well. Can't be bullied like they usually accept. They killed it off and might end up being worth it. This isn't f'_ soccer or tennis.

  7. Well, it is the Panthers. They're a bunch of dirty hacks. It's tough to feel bad for any of their players that get drilled regardless of how. I'll cheer on any team that pick their players off one by one.

  8. Interesting take. I think Barkov was caught puck watching. Hagel was a little late but I could show you 20 f-ing hits in the last two weeks that were that late. Hagel didn't leave his feet and hit Barkov in the chest. Also, with the Panther being the dirtiest team in the league for the last three years running I'm going to give hagel a pass on this one. Never heard the strays crying about when Marchy was sucker punched by Bennet. Movin on……

  9. 2:14 = 96% dirty hit, especially considering Barkov didn't touch the puck, let alone control it (5-10 feet from the boards, is arguably the most dangerous place to hit a guy!). The only saving grace is he was gliding (but still moving virtually full speed). I played when Bauer Vapor 8's came out, the game was getting so much faster with technology, and rule changes that it's in a way, more dangerous. Not even sure how I feel about my toddler learning, and I played right into my late 30s. The game is so polarized between great leadership, and dirt ball people.

  10. The dirtiest team in the league crying because one of their players took a clean hit. Hilarious.

  11. If this was the NFL, the guy would have been ejected. The fact that it’s legal is just ridiculous. On the street, it’s called a mugging!

  12. Well worth it for Hagel, and I would tell him to do it again. All FL wants to do is antagnize after every whistle and run at Tampa every chance they get, and this hit being 100% legal if Hedman wasn't 6'7 with a an XL stick so Barbi-kov couldn't reach it. If the refs aren't going to call the boardings and all the other shtty hits then sometimes you have to cross that line going back.

  13. Totally illegal hit and should have been a major and game misconduct. The playoffs cannot put up with these kind of hits taking out important players.

  14. Barkov chickened out on the play! He looks right at Hagel before getting hit! No head contact!! Shoulder on shoulder!! Perfectly clean hit! These hits happen EVERY GAME, after someone makes a pass. They NEVER EVER call interference for late hits. But because Barkov chickened out, thats why. Ohhhhh he's really hurt… BS actor! The guy just played 19 F'N minutes today. I give Barkov credit though, he fooled the refs, the league, and all the whiners here.

  15. Brother if you ever played hockey for a second I your life that was a follow through hit. It was shoulder to shoulder and you are watching this in slomo

  16. That hit def should not have warranted a 5 min major… Guys have done so much worse and never received a major. That was a clean hit and if anything, shouldve been just a 2 minute for interference. Penalty was deserved but a major is a bad call in my opinion. This is hockey, not the NBA. If anything was uncalled for it was that call, way to ruin a fun, intense game of hockey.

  17. It’s hockey such hits happen sometimes. Deal with it or buy more Russian players 😂😂😂. They at least don’t cry.

  18. I do like guenztal.. but bcuz hagel did this to the panthers captain and hagel wasn’t playing.. it was either him kuch or point.. and he happened to be in the wrong spot at the wrong time with Tkachuk on the ice
