    Wings fan here. Only guy on Vancouver I'd be willing to give up Larkin for is Hughes, and Vancouver wouldn't do that.

    On July 1, the Devils will trade Dougie Hamilton, Jacob Markstrom, Samu Salminen, Cam Squires, and 2026 and 2027 1st-rounders to the Canucks for Thatcher Demko and Quinn Hughes, so next season, Quinn will join his brothers Jack and Luke in New Jersey, give up left-handed shooting, and switch to right-handed shooting.

    RW is a team that has huge holes in its organization and what it is capable of putting out on the ice. Many people make videos of Larks' final media interview, but they don't include what Larks and Kane say to local news media days later. Where they both talk even deeper about the team's disappointment with Yzerman's TDL and their great frustration proves to be even greater in that article.

    As a RW fan, I see no point in trading away a Center for a worse Center in a 1v1 deal. Larks also has an NTC and he has not stated that he wants to leave. Larks also knows in 4N that he can play at a higher level and he wants to win. Larks has carried RW for the last 9-10 years on his shoulders, of course he is frustrated with his boss's failure to get better players for the team.

    Yzermans has a sad history for TDL since 2022. Which at 2023 was probably Yzermans best TDL as GM for RW. That's where he made trades with Hronek to Van and Bert to B's for picks in 2023 draft. Then there are lots of strange and very expensive trades that Yzermans makes throughout the years during the period 2022 -2025. The striking thing is that Yzermans trades away averages for new averages and shoots himself in the foot the summer of 2025, when he doesn't renew with several players who contribute with the points in the 2023/20224 season.

    That RW was one of the worst teams in the league in December 2025 and then fired its head coach all too late, is on Yzermans shoulders as that is his job. The worst that could happen happens when RW with a new coach goes on 2X7 straight W-trips with a few losses in between. This is exactly the worst thing that could happen to a team under construction. Better to keep losing and get a higher draft pick in the upcoming draft. A team starts winning when it shouldn't because they make the pain grow longer and stronger every year, because of Yzerman's lack of vision and the spice his team needs. For the second year in a row, RW has pick #13 or higher. A rebuilding team shouldn't end up there, they'll end up in the top 5 at minimum.

    When it comes to Van and what they should do this summer.
    So these are two things/tips to explore further.

    Either you go for Larks or Barzal.

    Both have speed and skills and size to add to Van. Both have very good Cap hits where Larks "wins" by a few 100K.

    If I were Van. I would have chosen Barzal because it could solve several obstacles within Van today with other recognized players being or not being a Van in the future. I would probably rather give assets to the Islanders than to help RW become much better on paper since RW has an upper hand against buying Van today. The prerequisites are to choose a different trade partner than someone who can force your hand when publicly already made it clear that changes will happen this summer. The question is simply about what price Van as an organization is willing to pay.

    The value going to Detroit has to be in the realm of what was paid for horvat or miller. Id even argue miller is better than larkin but his value was hit due to the situation. Otherwise, vancouver cant overpay for it.

    Detroit was not expected to necessarily take a step forward. Steve Yzerman literally said to my face last June it was going to be hard to get where they ended up last year. They outplayed their roster.

    Yes, he said this to me directly at an event at LCA. Lol

    Remember Bruce Norris? The Wings have reverted back to those days. Ned Harkness & Steve Y. About the same. In the darkness with Harkness. I think the days of a captain being C his whole career on one team are over. Larkin should be no different than anyone else. If a deal comes along, trade him. He should be frustrated. I don't blame him at all. 10:45

    BTW, Y is not trying to win now. Poor trades, poorer signings tells you that. His best virtue? Waiting. Unfortunately he waits too long in every case. Draftees languishing in the minors too long. Waits on FA's until there is nothing left but scraps. Pathetic.
