Mikey Anderson stuck his stick in between the legs of Leon Draisaitl and whatever happened sent the power forward down. What do you think happened, and what would you call? Have your say!
I'd like to think he's just trying to deliver a stick check from between the legs, but it's hard to see that he could have done anything stick-on-stick or stick-on-puck from that position. It's kind of a spear which is delivered by hand instead of stick. 2 minutes for "slapstick"? 🤔
My opinion is that a slash to the groin should be an automatic major +game misconduct for slashing. There is no requirement that the stick hits the opponent in the slashing rule, so I think it should be called in the same way as if the stick had made contact. The IIHF rule book used to say that a slash to the groin should be punished by a major+game misconduct for slashing, but that text has been removed.
Need to add a new penalty type: Fondling/Cup check, automatic 5 min/game…. and when the penalty is announced, and at every TV stoppage in play, the announcer has to say "Mikey Anderson likes to Fondle/Cup Check other guys… 5 minutes and a game misconduct."
I bet players would be a lot more… diligent about where their stick/hands go after that.
Looks like he’s going for a stick lift through the legs and missed. His glove 100% hits him there. No doubt. As far as penalties go, it’s not slashing because the stick didn’t touch him. Maybe roughing or unsportsmanlike if you feel like arguing for anything
I feel like the refs have been told to avoid giving 5-3 at all cost. In the Col-Dal series there was a high stick that the ref was looking right at but wasn't called since there was already a power play. Wouldn't be surprised if that has something to do with the no call here

Good thing that they still take hooking seriously tho, those things can really hurt.

Was there a call? The way the refs have been this year I would bet there wasnt
Call me old fashioned but a cup check is a penalty whether it's a slash or a grope. I guess roughing applies if it's latter.
Obvious penalty

Ouch… he got him right in a nads.
He's did what he's always done: be a dirty weasel.
Looks like he’s going in for a prostate check with his gloves still on…

drais done this little trick over his career a bunch of times. Nice to see him on the receiving end finally. Gutless play though no matter what.
