Bottom line: No Coach has anything to work with on this team. LACK OF TALENT
Don’t get me wrong, Roy is a great coach. But he is 99% controlled by lou and he has nothing to work with, and that will always be the same. This team lacks talent and Lou will not be the one to change it. I could bet he would still be in the front office in 2030 if I wanted to.
Same page? They aren't even looking at the same book.
Yoda's book is a fairytale that has Engvall, Duclair and Martin on the roster. Yoda's fairytale has Albelin and Maclean on the coaching staff, and the Bridgeport disaster Chris Lamoriello as assistant GM.
Roy's book is more realistic. Engvall is sent down to change his soft, euro style. Duclair is called out for his horrible lapses, and tired old MM sits. If Roy had a mentally competent GM to work with, this roster and coaching staff would look very, VERY different. I half expect Roy to bow out gracefully and return to the Remparts while Lou focuses on player grooming and jersey numbers. The REAL poison is ownership, who use "In Lou we trust" as an excuse not to be involved in building a winning team.
I believe change is coming. I don't think Lou will be the GM by the time the draft rolls around.
Question is, what happens to Roy. After living through Milbury's temperament, as much as I like Roy, I don't think Roy would make a good GM. I could be wrong, but, there are shades of similarity between them. Mainly emotionality.
I wouldn't mind seeing Darche or Gillman as our new GM and if they feel Roy is a good coach who can inspire and work with kids, and they go 3/4 rebuild and keep Roy…. I'd be comfortable with that.
I honestly tuned out at the start of this year. Just got tired of watching the Islanders blow leads and lose. Who can stand that from 2008 till today (minus the Trotz years)?

Hey Dudes ! Barry couldn’t Lane couldn’t Patrick couldn’t MAYBE it’s the team. Should have destroyed a lot of guys! The entire team underperformed and it has zero to do with the HC.
Guys, Duclair is irrelevant. He stays or leaves it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t move the needle either way and his cap hit is not a big deal. I don’t mind Roy’s coaching style. I like that he keeps his lines together. The islanders lack serious game breaking talent which shows up every time their powerplay goes to work.
I know Mitch thinks he's super cool when he pronounces French names, but to someone who actually speaks French, it sounds like someone vomiting while getting hit in the gut with a sledge hammer. "Duclaughhhh" is not how to pronounce Duclair.
Time to get rid of grandpa Lou! He is killing us with below average talent for most of the roster, and overpaying guys past their prime!
Patrick Roy is an extremely emotional competitor. He will learn how to control his emotions as he gains more experience. His hands are tied by an out of touch GM. Lou Lamoriello refuses to expand his vision and only relies on his unrealistic and outdated experience. This team needs youth, speed and toughness. Roy is trying to stay within his lanes without risking his second chance at coaching in the NHL. This team needs a coach like him. Some of the lead weight on this team must go NOW. Starting with the GM.
I don't think Lou is happy with Duclair either
which means one of them-roy-wont be back. a victim of louzer's run it back mentality that failed this season. not much roy can do with a roster of shit that lacks top talent to compete in nhl. 11 was a needless signing that louzer with no better options squeezed in under thin cap thinking roy could work miracles with him just like with sorry roster. Now louzer will make roy the scapegoat for failing to make playoffs with sorry roster he put together just like he did to juilien in nj and others.
I like the Roy defensemen scheme, we can work with that

Al Arbor Scotty Bowman couldn’t get anything more out of this roster. Barry couldn’t Lane Couldn’t Roy couldn’t No One Could! So I don’t get your logic, but I respect all opinions. And a great many of those opinions want to scapegoat Patrick like Barry like Lane! Maybe just maybe Lou has played a larger role in the team’s failure than those three coaches.
Lou Lamoriello needs to go away no one wants to see his boring ass brand of hockey he keeps trying to bring back
