The Oilers Finally Acquire that Big (and I mean BIG, he comes in at 6-feet, 6-inches, 6’6″, 209 pounds-lbs), Right-Handed Shot Centerman they’ve wanted, and needed. Now he isn’t a world-beater Faceoff-wise on Faceoff Prowess, but he is an Underrated piece that will Provide Edmonton Extra Solid Depth they need, and want.

Bjugstad Originally a Highly-Touted Big Power Forward, Drafted in the 1st Round, 19th Overall in 2010 (the Oilers Taylor Hall Draft Year) to the Florida Panthers. He was brought into the League as a Solid-Potential #-2 Center who has since bounced around in a more well-suited 3rd Line, Bottom 6, Depth Role. He is American from Minnesota and played there for 3 years of NCAA-College Hockey. Also starring for Team USA at the World Juniors in both 2011 and 2012, putting up 10 points in 12 games in two sperate tournaments.

He hasn’t spent anytime in the AHL as he made the jump from College Hockey right to the NHL, and hasn’t looked back in his long good career. He made the jump right to the Panthers paying 7 seasons, most notable 3 of 4 putting up close to 20 goals, and over around-to-over 40 points, with his Career High being 24 goals, in 2014-15, Assists, 30, Points 49, in 2017-18. He’s only played in the Playoffs once with Florida but put up a Solid 2 goals, 4 points in 5 games.

He signed a Solid-Long 6-year-deal with Florida back during his tenure at $4.1 million per AAV. He was then Traded to Pittsburgh to try and make up for the Loss of Jordan Staal, not playing much due to Injury, although playing in 4 Playoff Games. Them as he began to be dealt-around, he played for his hometown Minnesota Wild where he began to rekindle his Career putting up a double-digit season, also playing in 6 Playoff games.

This before then being Signed by his Most Recent Team the Arizona Coyotes. He is now having a Career Year, with 13 goals, the most he’s had since his 19 in 2017-18, 10 assists, 23 points, and 26 Penalty Minutes-PIMS with a +7 in 59 games. This can’t be overlooked, that he is a Plus-Player on a Bottom-Feeding Team, whether you look into +/- or not. He has a Career 599 Games, as his Next NHL game with his New Club will be Game #-600.

This along with 123 goals, 137 assists, 260 points, 261-PIM’s and being a Career – 40, he was an all Minus Player his first 5 seasons with Florida, as they struggled, before being a Plus Player the next 5, albeit in single-digits, as he’s also having a Career Year in +/- Plus-Minus.

He has only 15 games of Playoff Experience, but has put up 3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points and 6-PIM’s. He is of good age, just 30, as he has several years left in him, now just becoming a Veteran in the League.

He will Provide the Oilers with a Solid-Dependable, Physical, yet, although, he doesn’t use his Body as well as expected, with hitting or Penalties. However, can be a Menacing Presence at that 6’6″, as well as also being that lauded-after Right-Shot on likely the 3rd Line for Edmonton. As he slots in Perfectly on the 3rd Line Center Role as the Oilers continue to go with the 11/7 11 Forwards, 7 Defenceman configuration.
