The Montreal Canadiens GOT RIPPED OFF
The Montreal Canadiens dropped a heartbreaking Game 1 in overtime against the Washington Capitals, and we’re breaking down everything you need to know. From Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki’s third-period heroics to Alexander Ovechkin’s vintage dominance—including a historic OT winner—this was a playoff opener full of emotion, momentum swings, and lessons for a young Habs squad. The Canadiens will look to bounce back in Game 2.

  1. The refs calling the first game shouldn't be allowed to ref another game until the NHL cycles through all of its other officials. Next man up. Until the rest of the officials mess up, the refs from game one are at the back of the line.
If the NHL genuinely wanted games to be called fairly, they wouldn't allow these same refs to officiate a game again for a while.
My biggest problem is that NOT A SINGLE person in the media will question the refs? Why ? Because the NHL and it's broadcasting partners won't let it happen. Players get fined. Coaches get fined. Its pathetic. There are so many potential refs out there that could jump in and possibly perform better. Instead, the league chooses to go with a monopoly of refs. Why is this?
Say what you want, but the refs control the game for the NHL.
