Should Oilers stick with Stuart Skinner for Game 2?
Would you stick with Stuart Skinner in Game 2? Are you more confident in the Jets after seeing how hot they have started the playoffs? TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.
To the question that forms the title of the TSN video in question, I believe in giving Stuart Skinner a VERY short leash in game two of the 2025 Oilers-LA Kings playoff series. He did after all allow at least three ugly goals I could count in game one of the same series. Skinner, in game two of that Western Conference quarterfinal, should look to how effectively, in each of the first two games of the battle-of-Ontario playoff series, Leaf goalie Anthony Stolarz shut down the Ottawa Senators effectively enough, with Stolarz having needed to be on the ball in a much closer second game of that Eastern Conference quarterfinal (decided 3-2 in single OT on a goal by Max Domi).
Should Tampa play their backup goalie? Vasilevskiy let in 6 goals on 16 shots. How about the Oilers start playing from when the puck is dropped and stop gifting goals away in their own zone?
Hey TORONTO SPORTS NETWORK, Just concentrate on Propaganda spreading of the LAFFS….. Always entertaining watching you make excuses at the end of their run….
Skinner is brutal, shouldn’t be in the NHL, he has never been good enough. It shouldn’t be a question of game two but of never again. His body of work is horrible.
He's streaky at best. I mean if you're abjectly bad, your team doesn't go on an 18 winning streak or make it to the finals. That said, it's the big show, and he has proven he can't deliver. Go with Pickard and if he faulters, they need to go out and get a goalie.
I'd be comfortable with JOnathan Quick or Martin Jones.
Look at how most goalies performed. Vasilevskiy let in 6 goals on 16 shots, Ullmark has been shaky, so has Keumper. Its not fair to judge Skinner because there were so many defensive breakdowns.
This may be the year of the 'Second Round'. Round one really doesn't hold much surprises, though a legit upset is still possible (Edmonton beating LA does not constitute an 'upset'). The Second Round will be where teams like Toronto will be tested.
Stay with Skinner, what are wanting to do throw confusion into the mix and jump around like your in panic mode because of a couple luck goals by LA. Get a grip and try to relax.
what I notice is that Skinner doesnt challenge shooters ….its almost like he expects to get beat…and bingo…he does !! …he seems to be 1/2 a second behind the play all the time…
I don't blame Skinner. It's hard to win a game when the players in front of the goalie decide to only play 21 mins of the 60 and spot the other team a 4 goal lead.
Skinner just sucks as a goalie. The fact that his opening statement is "sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't" is just a reflection of him. He's just there in net, sometimes he saves some, sometimes he forgets how. Garbage for a starting NHL goalie
With the steel sieve that is the Oiler defence, it wouldn't make a difference. Yes, the keeper has to make key saves for your team but the defence have to defend, block shots and clear the area around your goalie. Oilers have way too much focus on offence and rely on that to get them over the line. I think they're on track for another whooping in Game 2.

It’s the playoffs we don’t have time to let a goalie find his game. Play pickard

Put him on waivers if you want to see the truth, nobody would touch him. Wake up
Stay with Skinner sit Bouchard !! Bouchards turnovers up the middle for a turnover is the problem !!

Skin usually bounces back. He better ffs
Yes skinner did awesome the goals that scored on him were lucky and nothing a goalie could save so yes

Skinner actually did okay. The problem is the team’s defensive core and Back checking.
Start Pickard.
Play picard, Skinner is cooked
Doesn’t matter who starts. Doesn’t matter.
Hell yeah bench that fool
We know that he sucks already. Stop wasting McDavid’s career. Play the better goalie, which is Pickard!!
Sense of urgency was the problem, skinner was solid.
I think LA should use their backup, both .800%.
Peeps are over reacting!

Bring up Campbell
Another year, and it’s the same questions about Skinner. It’s so repetitive at this point, I can’t even bring myself to care anymore.
Sign Carter Hart in the off season

You'd think a guy who gets to practice so much with McDavid shooting at you, that you'd become only better
Skinner doesn't seem to have a competitive bone in his body.
