Martin Fehervary’s season is over | How to win Game 2 | Will the Habs break out the Xhekaj?

The Washington Capitals are facing significant challenges heading into Game 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens. Defenseman Martin Fehervary has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his meniscus due to a knee injury sustained in the regular season’s penultimate game. Fehervary’s absence is a tough blow for the Capitals, as he has been a key player in both defense and penalty kill situations. Coach Spencer Carbery acknowledged his contributions, calling him an “unsung hero.” Forward Aliaksei Protas is also recovering from an injury but is expected to return during the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Canadiens are navigating their own obstacles, most notably the absence of defenseman Arber Xhekaj, who has been scratched after a costly mistake in his last appearance. With Xhekaj sidelined, Montreal’s physical play could be compromised, particularly as they aim to maintain composure against a tough Capitals team. Both teams are looking to gain momentum, with Game 1 having ended in a 3-2 overtime victory for the Capitals, and the stakes are high as they prepare to battle in Game 2. The anticipation for this matchup is palpable, as both squads strive to leverage their strengths and adapt to the absence of key players.

  1. The problem was that when the caps had massive pressure on the Canadians, we weren’t able to capitalize. When they were able to get pressure they tied the game. It’s all well and good to have scoring chances, but they need to finish with some more goals

  2. Not having Fever on the back end hurts, but there is no choice but next man up. Get more traffic in front, more bodies. someone has to get some crease grease goals. Too much one and done chances? Just keep the pressure on Monty. McMichael has to bury those chances, in close he has to shoot high.

  3. Not to say that the Habs are going to be the best gauge of competition for the rest of these playoffs, but I thought AA had a really solid game, analytics were decent too. I think hes gonna make himself a lot of money in these playoffs.
