5v5 – the sens had a full 2 extra minutes of offensive zone time. This wasn’t a 6-2 game. Ottawa was way too undisciplined and that killed them. 5v5 this was an even game, maybe even favouring Ottawa.
Sens were undisciplined, but two of those calls were soft (Batherson O-zone and the Gaudette call) and their PK (face offs) was trash. That said, they outplayed the Leafs 5 on 5. So if they can reign in the penalties and get back to their game, they can absolutely make this a series. A lot of the goals on Ullmark the defense completely fell apart, so you can't blame the goalie for all the GA.
Never seen a group of professional refs get swade by a cheering crowd so much before . If you need proof when they called the 5 minute and it got reversed .
I expected this as a bruins fan, Ottawa is not experienced and played bad and undisciplined. I still expect Leafs to lose 7 games. They will start off hot but then play terrible when the pressure to finish it is on them but still good for them.
I dont understand why you re even talking about Tkachuk who was a ghost and not mention Jarnkrok who literally was 3/4 into scoring a goals. Sens stink!

One thing that really bothers me from a neutral perspective is the fact that nobody stuck up for Matthews after he was hit into the boards to give them that 5 on 3 in the 2nd. Did he take a slight dive? Possibly. But he got back up and was then shoved after the whistle and nobody took exception. That’s ur captain being pushed by a RIVAL player….
Honestly this is what you would expect from the top team in the division taking on a wild card team. Leafs should dominate and not have too much trouble.
Of course its the Leafs so you expect Marner to disappear, Matthews to spill a coffee on himself and have to play together injured, Stollarz to forget how to stop a puck etc etc
As a Habs fan who lived most of my life in Toronto I think the Leafs look different this year and I'm pulling for them.

i dont think fans of other teams realize how hard the playoffs are when you finish 2nd or 3rd in the atlantic

As crazy as it is to say, I think that Toronto's playoff experience is the reason why they were so much better than Ottawa

Biggest takeaway for me for the Leafs was REBOUND CONTROL.. that'll bite them on team that play more crash the net.

Honestly i was more impressed with Matthews than Marner on that goal (obviously it was a beauty goal too)
Matthews with an incredible backcheck to cut off the puck and then find the streaking Marner within a millisecond with an incredible pass was insane
