  1. Ya & as much as I miss Mico-I have nothing but love for the guy-no hate. And there will always be part of me who wishes he never had to leave. But on balance-& with the benefit of hindsight-Id make that trade again every time. Though granted-I wasn't sure it was gonna work out in the moment & immediate shock of the Mico trade. But no way do we have Nelson AND Coyle if we don't trade Mico. Maybe 1 or the other are still here. Possibly youd have Nate,Brock,& Middlestadt. And I defended,& liked Casey more than most fans. But we didn't have time to wait for him to mature,& grow into his potential.

And no guarantee he ever would-you know exactly what you have with Brock,Coyle,& Drury now. Coyle is much more playoff experienced,& way better at "doing the little,& dirty things" that's required of 3C. You can argue Middlestadt has more skill,& offensive upside -though how Coyle has produced offensively lately-its debatable if Casey could even give you equal raw offensive production at 3c. And there's no doubt Coyle is superior,& better suited at all those things that have nothing to do with scoring goals or assists that you need from your 3C. Those other things are actually MORE important from your 3 & 4c-than outright raw offensive production is.

And there's just no chance both Coyle & Nelson would be here cuz of the cap. You'd PROBABLY still have Lindgren,Vessey,& EJ but even that's no guarantee. And it's not 100% certain Coyle OR Nelson are here. But it is 100% certain-not only would Necas,& Drury not be here but either Coyle or Nelson wouldn't. So instead of the best 4 centers in the NHL on 1 team in Nate, Nelson,Coyle,& Drury-half those guys-DEFINITELY wouldn't be here. With them we have the best center depth in the NHL,& also are incredibly deep at forward overall. Before we had Mico but below average center depth beyond Nate,& average AT BEST overall forward depth when everybody was healthy,& available.

But now If Landeskog is back- Vessey is probably still 2 or 3 injuries from cracking the playoff lineup-& he's a pretty damn good 4th liner as an example.Other than goalie-center depth is probably the most important factor for having success in the NHL playoffs. And while of course I miss Mico,& he's still probably a better overall player straight up than Necas-hes certainly more proven -especially in the playoffs-I still wouldn't take Mico back if it meant losing Necas,Drury & Nelson &/or Coyle. Which it definitely would mean. Now it's not quite that simple in the long run. While 3 of our 4 centers are signed & will be here next yr-Nelson isn't.

If you do lose him for nothing-then Ritchie,& 1st rounder are gone,& it probably makes your future not as bright as if we had resigned Mico for 7 yrs or whatever. But we need to win now,& even if ya lose Brock-which would be unfortunate-Nate,Coyle,& Drury is a pretty damn good 3 some. Although ideally you'd need to find 2C again cuz while Coyle can play 2c-hes much more suited as 3C. And the cap room you'd have you could go get another 2c-as hard as they are to find-just ask WPG. If we don't trade Mico-theres a very high chance not only is Brock or Coyle not here but 1 of them might be on WPG right now.(or if not-maybe Minnesota).

Hopefully we can bring back Brock for 3-4 yrs but that's a problem for the summer. In fact I'd argue Nelson is probably a top 10ish NHL 2C,& both Coyle,& Drury are top 5ish in the NHL at 3c,& 4c respectively. We know Nate is top 2 at 1C,& top 3 player overall. And I don't have any doubt that for THIS YR & THESE PLAYOFFS-we have a significantly better chance at a deep run-than if you undue the Mico trade,& he's back. Even factoring in he ended up in Dallas, makes them stronger,& we have to play him 1st round-I STILL will take my chances with this roster over what we'd have if Mico was still here.
