OK, since you asked – I’ll get the ball rolling.
I grew up in Elliot Lake, ON., which is awesome because Joe's from Sudbury, and Jim’s from the Sault, Elliot is in between. We used to have calendars of Maple Leafs every year as a kid. They would have the TV schedule of the Leafs there as well. I always had a smile when I seen it was on Global. You got to hear Joe. I remember lying on my belly in the living room watching Clark (favourite player), Borje, Gary Leeman, Mark Osborne, and Allan Bester. He’s my voice of Christmas. My best memories as a kid were Leafs games in the winter. Even when I got older, used to get grounded…NO TV. But, at the time, you could actually get the AM radio station from Toronto…think it was 640AM. So, even when grounded, I never missed my Leafs games. I always got a good laugh and smile – win, lose or draw. Today, I feel like that bartender watching the game with the boys.
Thank you for all you have done. Here’s hoping that Joe can make his favourite call this season.

Having those radio feeds cut in and out until the third period absolutely ELECTRIFIED our appreciation for Joe Bowen and Jim Ralph as THE Radio Voice of the Maple Leafs! HOLY MACKINAW, but that other radio broadcast was downright empty without their thrilling play-by-play.
