The Capitals are really beginning to be BORING and Stale looking, Same old Slap Shot by Ovechkin and his sutle in your face celebrations , they’re not nearly exciting as they were in 2018. NUFF-SAID. 🥱😴🥱😴
Washington is in trouble…. Canadiens almost took them out at home with a mediocre performance.
Ref either has to call interference or wave off the icing on what led to the OT goal.
If there's one game Montreal had to win, its this one:
– Montembeault played out of his mind
– Capitals blew a 2-0 lead and they looked rattled.
– No Protas.
As a Habs fan, losing this one probably means a sweep.
Bogus icing call
As much as I hate to say it as a Sharks fan. Lane Hutson definitely deserves the Calder. What an incredible player.
I think this series is either going to go 4 or 7
The habs vs refs
Cross check to face, no call. Interference behind play, no call.
Refs lost control early, made bad calls and decided the outcome as much as any player on the ice, terrible.
It was not Ovechkin's first OT goal ever. It was his first PLAYOFFS OT goal. I've heard so many people make that mistake, including the TSN call and the Hockey Guy, and there's a huge difference. Ovechkin even scored a regular season OT GWG this regular season against Ottawa.
Habs shouldve won 2-1, Caps second goal is a ( comically) high stick the league needs to overturn
Montreal plays the rope a dope
It’s playoff time.
Now every loss is the refs fault… 😂
Alot of butthurt Habs fans complaining about the refs. Welcome to our world. And the refs sucked for us too so it cancels out
I was completely disgusted by the play by play guys and the guys in the booth. I've never seen such bias commentating. The one guy was referring to the Canadians as we.
And the whining about the icing call in OT was embarrassing saying thst they should have given Laine the benefit of the doubt because of contact from Roy.
I watched that replay from a reverse angle frame by frame and Laine didn't touch the puck and contact was actually made after the puck was by him. It was the right call.
Why do refs have a problem with habs every single year? Hopefully rest of the games are better cause last night was criminal. Still not as bad as 2021 tho when the refs were on Vegas side in the 3rd round. Fun fact, they the Montreal Canadiens are the only team to not be congratulated on their run to the Stanley cup final from Bettmann. Gary usually says something about the runners ups every year, except for when it was habs, not a fucking word. So sick of the ant-habs rhetoric from these fucking refs.
Missed calls against capitals all fucking night, they could do whatever they wanted out there. Missed icing call to end the game was the most bullshit way to win a game.
The Habs really deserved a better fate after tying this game. Montreal came so close to winning in the last minutes of the game.
CAPS fan here, I went to the game and the guy next to me drove 10.5 hours from Montreal. You gave a great unbiased breakdown. I thought Thompson played great not good, the two goals were a bit flukey. You could say the same about our second goal. I thought the CAPS and Thompson looked like the midseason form, which we need. We kept the majority of the chances to the outside until the 3rd period. I wasn’t upset with anyone’s play. Chychrun play a tiny bit off, not much but a little bit. I hop game 2 is as fun. Thanks for the video!
So, this was the first playoff game win for the Caps in quite a long time. The last playoff win for them was in 2022 against the Panthers in the first round.
Insane that Montreal got the extra penalty on the scrum after the whistle when Hutson got punched in the face in front of the refs
You could tell the Habs were playing not to lose for a large part of the game until it was desperation time in the last 10 minutes. They need to play with that kind of desperation for the entire game
Hope we Xhekaj
Refs were bad missed calls at key moments
You mentioned Huston's 2A, but not the fact that both the Caps 2nd and 3rd goals were because Hutson blew an assignment in front of the Habs net because he was puck watching… I think his inexperience was pretty exposed in those instances. Also, I don't think Thompson actually looked that good, he was over committing and sliding way out of position when things got scrambley, and both of the Habs goals resulted from it. Montreal definitely got outplayed on the whole, but if they can clean up their defensive lapses and continue creating chaos in front of the net like they did in that 3rd period, we'll have ourselves a damn good series.
There was no icing on the play leading to the OT goals , the refs were a fking joke.
Congrats on 345k!
Laine doesn't backcheck… but you know what he does do… play friggin fortnight 😂
Caps in 4.
Caps either win this in 4 with a sweep (not likely though) or they win the series in 6, if it goes to game 7 then I think the Habs win the series
Just watch the capitals lose half their fanbase once ovi leaves lol
The first PP goal of the Caps. Absolutely no way that Habs get an extra two in that scrum when Hutson gets punched in the face right in front of the ref. Decidion, extra roughing for MTL.
IDGAF about win or lose, its just I refuse to believe thats its the best league of hockey in the world with the best employees. Those refs were dogshit.
From a habs fan POV:
-Caps are bigger than us and it's obvious
-Classic no penalty on Gallagher because its Gallagher
-Montembault was amazing
-No penalty on Anderson was a game changing moment because the Caps started to be salty
-Laine is terrible in defense
-what the fuck was that extra penalty on Newhook in the scrum?
-By 3rd period Caps were not hitting us as much and allowed the habs to comeback in the game
-Suspicious call on the icing that led to the goal
Still a win for the habs because lately we were starting fucking slowly and we know we can manage the caps. Interesting serie coming ahead imo
