The Edmonton Oilers lose 6-5 to the LA Kings in Game 1 | Oilersnation Everyday with Tyler Yaremchuk

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs did not go the way the Edmonton Oilers hoped. On today’s episode of Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin recap an emotional rollercoaster of a game that ended in heartbreak. The Oilers fell 6-5 to the LA Kings after allowing the game-winning goal from Philip Danault with under a minute left in regulation.

The Oilers were down 4-0 early in the game but battled back in the third period, eventually tying it on a clutch goal from Connor McDavid. Despite the comeback, it wasn’t enough. We’ll break down the full scoring summary, analyze some of the key turning points—including a costly Evan Bouchard turnover—and examine Stuart Skinner’s performance between the pipes.

We’ll deliver our One Big Take, pose the Sherwood Ford Giant Question, and look ahead to Game 2, breaking down what the Oilers need to adjust to return to Edmonton with the series tied at 1-1.

Plus, we’ll be joined by Zach Laing, News Director at Oilersnation, to get his take on the Game 1 loss. He’ll share his thoughts on the performance of Stuart Skinner, whether goaltending should be a concern heading into Game 2, and what key changes the Oilers need to make to avoid going down 2-0 in the series.

It’s a must-watch playoff edition of Oilersnation Everyday—don’t miss it!

  1. Poor dzone coverage was Bouchard going behind the net when he didn’t have to. But of course oilersnation won’t blame Bouchard at all. Typical

  2. This hockey podcast nerd, calling superstar hockey player sex symbol Adrian Kempe a dweeb, is hilarious.

  3. You guys need Bouchard on that 2025 shit list. Check Warrener's rant on Bouchard today, wish you guys had the balls or smarts to call him out like that.

  4. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Zach is a joke. Never Bouchard fault. Typical take of a guy that has never laced up some skates.

  5. I don’t think Trent understands knobs defensive way to play and that scares me we’ve seen what happens when players aren’t doing what knobs what’s defensively. And yea I hate Kempe as well Liam I feel u

  6. There is plenty of blame to go around…..but if I was to choose one, I would blame the loss on the coach. Our # 1 line worked real hard the last three minutes to tie it up! Never mind going for the "kill" the coached shouldve sent fresh legs out there with the instructions to play defense and not to surrender a goal. During the intermission the Kings wouldve been doubting themselves, and the boys would be feeling great and confident going into OT. But the coach took a gamble and lost! Try as they might our top line couldn't make a proper play and get back on the winning goal, probably due to lack of energy, while the Kings had fresh legs out there. I blame the coach!

  7. You guys saying the League doesn't put them selfs in position to succeed makes it so the League still has control at the end of the day meaning the League has an adgenda of who they want to win
