  1. Hi Gil! Hockey God do exist—-we can hope again! We can see the draft in peace! We can look forward to next season!! Give it to Roy!! We’re BACK!! Give it a little time but we’re on our way back!! I’m elated!! I’m celebrating tonight like it was a playoff game and win!!

  2. YES! YES! YES! THANK GOD! Our long nightmare has ended. Hope has been restored. I am not saying it will work out perfectly, but there was no hope with Lou!

  3. It was a move that probably had to be done because of the outrage from the fanbase. People that are celebrating this will live to regret it. I’m not here pounding the table for them to keep Lou but what I will say is that with Lou came appeal and now that’s gone. Some no name up and coming, assistant gm, will not lure top level coaches and definitely will not lure top free agents or retain home grown talent. Like it or not, the unfortunate reality is that the recent success of the isles was a direct result of the relevancy that Lou brought. For all those people celebrating today, you better hope that Lou’s replacement has the same pedigree other wise buckle up for a long time of waiver wire claims, overpays, and misery. This isn’t is a GOOD day, the islanders are not like any other professional franchise. Argue with me all you want but two things can be true. Lou needed to be replaced and Lou’s status brought desirability to play and or coach on Long Island. If they don’t get a top name, we’re in deep trouble as a franchise.

  4. Wow it’s so Surreal can’t believe it thank you Gil this is a Day to be Remembered in islanders history, Step Up !!!

  5. He was good the first 3 years but was unbelievably stubborn about this team the last 4 years. I thought Ownership would be conned for another year. But they woke up. It took a while for them to see through his act but when they did, they did not hesitate.

  6. Absolutely right, Gil. Thanks to Lou for leading us to two conference finals. However, I saw this coming—it was inevitable, especially when the owners started reaching out to season ticket holders who had withdrawn their support until Lou was let go. LGI
