Despite what the haters and trashy "fans" are crying, there were a lot of positives in this game. The Oil is just gettin' started, and I am pumped for the next game!! Today felt like a warmup, everyone felt off their game… Oilers gotta keep that energy they had in that 3rd period rally!! ✨ I know our boys can do this!! LET'S GO, OILERS!! 💙🧡💙
What kind of officiating was that? They were doing everything except stabbing Mcdavid and no calls. And can we use this game as evidence Bouchard NEEDS to be traded? Brutal giveaways. And other than the lucky goal off his back, this game would have been a lot worse if it wasn't for Stu. Shut up about him. This was ALL defense fault.
milk toast knobs… seems to lack passion.. does not seem willing to demand his players get in the lanes.. win puck battles… ensure they have the body posn vs letting the opponent have the posn…. watch Bouch on that final play… letting Foeg skate past him to screen Skinner…. while Bouch sat to outside… -can a team win w this effort that is endorsed by the coach?
McDavid turned the puck over with a terrible back hand to the front of the net. McDavid tied the game then blew it with an unnecessary turnover all in about 30 seconds.
Why hate on Skinner? No goalie could've stopped that "bouch" bomb of a shot and whilst being screened. So, who the heck turned the puck over, damn it?? Oh, wait…ok. Stu, u suck!
From the puck drop the Oilers once again look like the same tired team, then playing catch-up all game only to be beat by their own goalie that looked like a beached whale flopping around the net not knowing where the puck was except when it was in the net. They better win the next game or this series is over in 5.
Before the Leon goal Mcdavid was holding his opponents stick for long enough to prevent the legal check from happening just like Draisaitle does,its illegal to stop the stick-check that way, they disguise it really well by flailing their arms and making it appear they are "swimming out" of checks(when really they are holding and picking opponents for each other) instead of skating out of them with their feet. plus the Officials let 3-4 very obvious pick-plays/Interference committed by the Oilers go with no penalties,, on Perrys goal Mcdavid again blatantly cheated by wrapping his whole arm all the way around his opponents waist to hold him and to cheat to control his body positioning and to hold him back, the Reffs called a very very good game, a fair game, they kept things under control , the Oilers age and lack of speed and size is really starting to show already and guys like Walman and Frederick are showing poor judgement and are being overly aggressive @ the wrong times. Ardvidsson himself got away with 2-3 penalties caused by his overly aggressive posturing and poor timing. Truth was we all watched a 5-2 Game#1 it was simply a victory sugar-coated @ the end by Mcdavid and Daisaitle as if it were a 6-5 Nailbiter. I see little to no reason that Games 2-3-4 will not go down exactly like this Game 1 did with a 5-1 or 5-2 score in favor of the Kings. Game #1 proved to everyone that the big bad Oilers are MORTAL and they bleed and that even the 2-Kings on fire were not enough to turn fate around. The Kings played a 60 minute Game that was constant and consistent and that clearly kicked the ever-loving tarp off of the Goodship Oilers. I will need to see some Miracle Level Coaching moves by Knoblauch or I predict 3 more rinse and repeats with little to no change in end results. Playoff Hockey is all about Coaching…Adjusting then Counter-Adjusting….feeling the pulse of the Game and of Landmark Players in that game. P.S who starts in net for Game 2 for the Oilers? This could turn out to be the single biggest most pertinent question of the 2025 playoffs.
