Lots of hits in this game? Sure, when Toronto was outhitting Ottawa in the first half of the first period the Toronto biased commentators were all about how Toronto was outhitting Ottawa. That changed dramatically for the rest of the game and the announcers never mentioned Ottawa out hit Toronto 56 to 30. Ottawa out hustled Toronto, had more pressure and time in the offensive zone, and played better than Toronto for most of the game. The number one and two reasons they lost was goal tending and very biased refereeing. Apparently you can't touch Tavares or Mathews without drawing a penalty. The call that resulted in a 5 on 3 was atrocious. If I was a serious Toronto fan I would be nervous about this series after watching that game.
Being a Leafs fan, I could easily see ullmark playing game 2 shitting the bed again and losing. Forsberg coming into the series playing like roy reincarnated and the series going to 7 lol
Officiating was awful. Refs need to be better. Yes Ottawa didn't help themselves but the refs didn't help either
If Cousins isn't playing, it's because he's injured. There's no way you put in Highmore over Cousins.

I said early in the game that the Sens are learning the lesson that this leafs core had to learn in their first 2 playoff appearances: it isn't the old days anymore, they are going to call cross checks and hits from behind in the playoffs now.

Leafs simply need to play positionally well, play solid hockey, Ottawa has no chance.
Ottawa looked really undisciplined. They cycled really well, not sure if that was because Leafs were not aggressive with a larger lead. Sens were playing a dirty game.

The Sens are poor losers for trying to hurt Leafs Goalie. It was definitely on purpose. Reaves should play the next game just to keep the Sens goons in check.

Would have been so great if Spez was still with the org. Watching him and Dubas hugging it out when Toronto bested Tampa was magic. Watching him play for our cheer for Toronto vs his Sens, as leadership would have been insane. He is one of the guys I remembered so thoroughly from that era. I was far more involved in the gaming side than watching full games live. Every team I crafted featured Tucker, Doms, Roberts, Sundin, Nik, McCabe, Kab and the rest..i knew it was wrong to have dual loyalties and hated to openly support non-Leafs.. but Spezza and Kariya had my heart and soul. They played in a way that commanded respect.

This is what a game against the leafs always looks like the difference in this one is penalties were called when the other team did something dirty and illegal. was very surprised that crosschecks to the face, sucker punches and boarding from behind were called penalties. I'm used to watching knies get his head slammed into the ice by bennet, getting a concussion and there not even being a penalty. If the league has decided to call this a fair series Ottawa is in trouble
