@Carolina Hurricanes

He did this to HIS TEAMMATE?

Man oh man do the Carolina Hurricanes look like a DAMN GOOD team in their first game against the New Jersey Devils. Now I’m not ready to crown them but the Devils also picked up a couple injuries late as well so my sweep prediction is looking good. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Rangers fan, myself. So, I recognize my bias here. However, with that said I must say the Devils looked awful in this game from just about every conceivable perspective. They did not look like a playoff team. Had I seen ONLY this game, and knew nothing about the context of it being played (playoffs) I would've said this is not a playoff caliber Devils team. It's pretty wild to think that a team can be so reliant on an individual player (Jack Hughes). Without him, the Devils are not a high caliber team. He's the glue that makes this franchise work…and that's not a good thing.

  2. As a Leafs fan, I recognize that effort from NJ. No defensive structure, no controlled breakout, just flip it out, change up the lines constantly so no players get used to playing with each other. Markstrome made this game as close as it was, without the brilliant goaltending this could have been 10-1 Keefe is one of the worst coaches in the NHL.

  4. Hot take
Why didnt Glass cross the opposing Player in front of the coal but tried to cross his goalie and missed to steal the sight of the bumper?

  5. You're right that i didn't have high expectations but holy shit that was bad from us. the game stabilized slightly in the third defensively but we just got almost no high danger chances the whole game. idk if they were too nervous to shoot but they looked worse offensively than that throwaway game vs detroit

  6. As a Devils fan, it's time to stop pointing out missing players. We have a dead weight that will never step. It's very clear that this organization did not intend to move an inch in these playoffs, otherwise, there would be moves made during the deadline. Maybe it's the top and not Fitz that is greedy, but unless that changes, we will not build a team that could be a threat. Last tie the bitching was about goaltending, we get goaltending but this year the bitching is the bottom 6 blows. We're going nowhere throwing puck out and HOPING it will bounce in our favor, If you can't maintain control of the puck to get a quality shot, you're not playing a game, you're praying for a lucky chance….At least Cane fans are a heck of a lot better than Rag fans. If this were the Rangers, I would have a heartbreak.

  7. Everyone still talking about the Raantanen debacle, and I get it, but as soon as he left the Canes were on a tear and every player obtained in both deals vastly outperformed Rants. Hall, Jankowski and Stankoven have this far more than made up for the perceived loss of Rantanen.

  8. Sheldon Keefe coached teams faulted in the playoffs. He’s just not a playoff caliber coach.

  9. As a Stars fan, watching Stank absolutely wreck NJ makes up a little for the Stars poor first game

  10. I was at this game and it was so loud multiple times we scored I felt my feet shaking from the ground

  11. Why are we ignoring the fact that Markstrom was ready to injure Svech, injures his own teammate, DOESNT think "perhaps I shouldn't have done that", then proceeds to try again. At least he took it out on the real cause of his frustration.

  12. I had Carolina in 5 and it took me like two periods to wonder if I picked too many games in the series. "A bit of friendly fire" is an understatement though. Glass got chopped in half.

  13. As a Devils fan, yes. This was very us. We could have a good game next time? Who the eff knows?! And slashing ourselves seems on brand.

  14. Im a long time devils fan and as much as I would love to see them win a fourth cup it is definitely not happening this year. This game was painful to watch. They looked like uncoordinated toddlers vs a professional team. What an embarrassment. If they win one game that will be a miracle.

  15. I’m a devils fan. I’ve said since February that they will get swept by the canes in a first round matchup. Maybe they win one. That being said. Carolina always looks like a cup contender until the conference finals. So we’ll see what happens to them then. For now. The devils are beyond done.

  16. Markstrom's “25” is a weird goalie number.

I know in The Before Time, Sawchuk wore “24” for the Leafs for a year.. back when your goalie was listed as your first (“1”), and/or your last (usually “30”) player on your roster…

Then of course there’s Tretiak with “20”, who influenced Ed Belfour… but.. weird Russians.

Nowadays it’s stupidly anything goes..lame football numbers abound.

When I was a kid, goalies only ever had, 1,27,28,29,30,31,33,35… 32 or 34 weren’t used for some reason until guys like Hrudey and Vanbiesbrouck used them.

Anyway.. no new team should be using hotdog numbers..for any player!

    Marchand.. 63?? WTF?

    Rant over.

  17. How are you able to play SN and ESPN footage in your video? Do you have the rights to replay NHL footage? I never understand how channels like this exist.

  18. I feel like this is a case of lets see what happens.

If the Bruins can stumble and fall after having the best regular season ever, any team can flounder out.

  19. Canes are scary, it's hard to imagine them losing a lot by getting goalie'd or anything bc they just take so many shots. like they might get skunked one game and then they're gonna come back with 50 shots again in the next one. Canes have to be the favourites out of the east rn
