These boys don’t realize that penalties still get called in playoffs, some things you can’t do and the inexperienced sens showed reckless discipline issues.

Lots of mouthing by Sens fans about how much better the Sens where then the Leafs. Now comes all the excuses and the penalty issue and if we hadn’t got so many penalties we would have won. Well I got news for you Toronto still outscored you 5 on 5 it wasn’t dominated y the Sens. Just face it you got outplayed by a better team and you will get outplayed every game.

Ullmark was terrible. Genuinely terrible.
We were terrible defensively.
We were terrible on the PK
Discipline was terrible.
We were not the better team 5 on 5.
But the worst thing was this: you’d have been hard pressed to know that the Sens were taking part in a playoff game. The passion, grit, determination, physicality and downright nastiness simply wasn’t there. The leafs had a lot more.
The whole sport feels very, very different than it did 20 years ago. I’m not sure I like that.

The Leafs get outshot by everyone. It's their system. Take away the middle of the ice and let the other team shoot from the perimeter. Shot totals mean nothing

Ullmark needed to be better, by a lot, but there was so much diving last night that I wasn't sure if I was watching a hockey game or the Olympic Trials.
The Sens showed their inexperience by taking obvious penalties from over-aggression that had to be called, regardless of whether it is a regular season or playoff game. The young boneheads like Grieg and Stutzle who haven't figured out where the line is drawn can learn from Captain Tkachuk. He is one of the best at finding it.
It's a fine line, but penalties are penalties. They need to stay on top of the Leafs but can't go over the top, especially in the offensive zone. It's foolish and uninformed to blame this on the refs. The Sens will learn and improve, or they'll have plenty of early tee times.
The Leafs wanted to play a patient game and did so to perfection. They don't care about time of possession, ineffective hits, or racking up huge shot totals from the perimeter, but they'll definitely take advantage of fewer opportunities when a goalie is performing like Ulmark in this game.
Leafs fan here, good to see you guys back in the playoffs. I have a feeling next game wont be as easy.

Quick question, but how many faceoffs was Ottawa’s center kicked out of? Tough to win those draws and set up your PK when your players constantly start out of position.
We waited 8 years for this performance in game 1?! Maybe it will be better next game but wow.
Going to need to be a lot better in a lot of areas. Bounce back, long series, lose the way in game 1 it will be a quick series.
Ullmark at 8+ million 2 goals on four shots , these guy's are worried about his sensitivity to levi . Coaching should have pulled him he was not even interested you could see it in his eye's.

To sum up this game pretty much the Chabot & Jensen pair wasn't good they cost us the first couple goals, Highmore was a cause of a goal and then obviously penalties killed us with them scoring 3 on the PP. PK unit needs to be way better and Ullmark needs to be way sharper on the PK as well but not all on him. Just a rough first game all around for the Sens. Really hope they figure it out Game 2. But it's clear shots on 5 on 5 and the hits we were the better team. GSG!
Just so Ottawa fans are aware, the Leafs are very comfortable letting the opposition have the puck 5 on 5. They are also very comfortable being out shot and letting those shots come from the outside. The Leafs have won a lot of games this season with this exact formula. So if Ottawa thinks they outplayed the Leafs 5 on 5, and they think it will only be a matter of time, they have no chance at winning this series. They gotta find a way to get scoring chances in the middle of the ice consistently
