One of our biggest episodes every year: the Detroit Red Wings Season in Review.
Tune in as we start our 2024/2025 Red Wings NHL season recap by covering our overall sentiments on the season, and how the transition from Derek Lalonde to Todd McLellan after Steve Yzerman fired the former really split the year into 2 parts.
We then jump into the offense, including overall play 5v5 and individual player analyses of Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, & Marco Kasper.
We continue with Andrew Copp, Elmer Soderblom, Vladimir Tarasenko, J.T. Compher, Jonatan Berggren, Michael Rasmussen, and the rest of the Hockeytown forward group.
We then jump into defense, including season breakdowns for Moritz Seider, Simon Edvinsson, Albert Johansson, Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry, Justin Holl, Erik Gustafsson, and the entire Detroit blue line.
Finally, the goaltending, including Ville Husso, Cam Talbot, Alex Lyon, Petr Mrazek, and 1 game of Sebastian Cossa, before talking special teams, coaching with Todd McLellan, and Steve Yzerman’s performance as general manager.
Also, takeaways from the Red Wings locker room media, including Patrick Kane being likely to return to Detroit and Dylan Larkin’s open frustration at the Red Wings’ lack of trade deadline moves & more before we take your questions and comments in our Overtime segment – enjoy!

Sabres wanted Kasper in the deal for Cozens, I am glad Steve said no
A full year of The ToddFather and we might be hosting right now
Time for episodes of WWP to dive into who red wings are possibly going to be able to draft, or trade our pick and sign some talent including Marner? or trade up in the draft?
Can't believe Larkin complained to the media that they didn't trade for anyone at the deadline. He is basically saying he didn't believe in the team, maybe he should have stepped up and lead the team to the playoffs instead of waiting for Yzerman to trade for someone to do it for him.
Maybe larkin shouldn't go an entire month without scoring a single goal. Maybe as the captain and "leader" don't let the team go on an L4 going into the trade deadline and hoping for help in the form of a trade. Dylan larkin is making 8.7 million dollars a year. Stop complaining, go out and play hockey and maybe win some games you're not supposed to win.
Ive been watching you guys for long enough that i went from young to old.
This season taught me that Andrew Copp is basically the mayonnaise of this groups sandwich
You don’t think about mayonnaise a lot on a sandwich but when it’s missing you notice and the sandwich gets much much worse
Wait so Justin Holl isn't going to win the Norris Trophy this year?
Look up Seider's 5v5 points/60 split with and without Chiarot. Chiarot is where offense goes to die. Mo would easily have surpassed 50 points this year if he wasnt carrying Ben.
Discarding Walman and Gostisbehere were a critical mistake.
A combined 85 points gone.
The goalie turnstile did not help either.
The GM needs to WTFU and be creative. Hiring friends and family as pro scouts sucked.
Fire Steve he not going to do any again in FA we need real defense man and Goalies as we half for the last 6yrs
Absolutely not about copp. The contract matters need to ship that out.
I'm fine with Larkin calling out Yzerman. This year was a complete failure top to bottom, and the front office deserves having its feet put to the fire no less than everyone else.
Three straight years the team was pushing for the playoffs. Year one, Yzerman sold off and said the team wasn't good enough. Year two, still nothing. Year three, they dragged themselves out of the cellar and into fighting for a playoff spot. Still nothing. Especially for Larkin, to get nothing from the front office is absolutely aggravating.
The summer was an all-time bungling by Yzerman. A halfway decent offseason has this team in the post season.
