Makes sense that Martin is scared to put them on a same line. It's like holding on to unopened base set booster pack, hoping there's Charizard in there, but the package is light weight, and somehow you feel its going to be Blastoise. Which is not bad, just not what you wished for.
You all are sleeping on how good Hudson is away from the puck and in his own end. Makes me think you haven't watched very many Habs’ games. That team is committed to defence. That’s how they made the playoffs.
Think the Caps are in for a whirlwind of frustration this series. They’ve been in a poor run of form, no guarantee on Thompson in net(lindgren can be beat) and the Habs have young talent that’s played in the playoffs before(Suzuki was fantastic in that cup run as a KID, Caufield was good). Add in the unknown of how Hutson will do and the arrival of Demidov? It’ll be interesting.
Thinking 7 games could be in the cards.

Seems like it's the same negative rhetoric for the Habs every time they're in the playoffs whether they're a top or bottom qualifier…and then the rhetoric changes REAL QUICK once the dance gets started haha. It's the most passionate city in the world and the fans are an extra skater come playoff time.
I think habs are faster and first on the puck. The plays aren't always pretty but they get the job done. They often comeback in 3rd period, which shows they never give up. They have great goalies, lots of motivation, many capable and exceptionnal young talents. All 4 offensive lanes are scary. Idk. I know it's hard to bet on habs since all odds are against you, (1st vs 8th), but if they make this first round, I'm pretty sure they'll move to the 3rd round. It's not always about points in a year, it's about how your playstyle can counter the other team. And I see lots of ways the habs can win this.

Sneaky playoff experience is an understatement, Habs have 13 players with some pretty good playoff time out of 20.
As a Capitals fan I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous going into this series. The Caps really didn't play well down the stretch. Yes the games didnt matter much since they had clinched their spot a month ago and they were just trying to get Ovi to the record but it's still important to go in with some momentum, which they really aren't. And Montreal is. I still think we take this series but Montreal is going to give us a lot of trouble and likely push it to 6 or even 7. And after that, we're gonna get eaten alive by Carolina.

I've never seen a more disrespected conference winner than this caps team. Montreal's a great up and coming team, but their underlying numbers are atrocious. I get there are a lot of homers picking the habs, but acting like this series is a 50/50 is just wild.
I think the Canadiens success will depend on them playing hard the whole game. We've seen them this season show up to some games and just skate around but also many many games when they've played awesome.
Guaranteed Habs win, Steve has a history of being SO wrong!
They had three long term injuries, dach, laine and guhle , heinemen not to mention reinbacher all missed months, anderson, Slaf, armia all played hurt

I think many will be surprised.
Caps expectations have to be ECF at minimum. They will be better next year though. Next year they won't have Eller and Mangiapane but they likely add Cristall and Miroshnichenko and Protas. Leonard will be better. Ovechkin has already said he will be back next year. The defense is all under contract to return as is the top 6 and the most of the bottom 6. Both goalies are returning. There really shouldn't be a drop off since they're running almost the same roster with the hope their prospects take another step forward.
Wow thats so many games
It isn't luck, they revamped their medical staff. They led the league perennially in man games lost due to injury the last couple seasons.
