Are Maple Leafs’ roster changes enough to avoid another disappointing exit?

The Maple Leafs won the division for the first time in the Auston Matthews era and big changes on defence and in goal definitely helped. But will those changes be enough to help Toronto avoid another first-round playoff exit? How different is it for this team to have Stanley Cup winner Craig Berube guiding them rather than Sheldon Keefe? Craig Button joins TH to discuss.

  1. The Leafs have mojo, swag, and confidence going into the Playoffs! Ottawa will not be a cake walk, but the Leafs will prevail. Reavo called up from the Marlies, a good roster move! Insert Kampf and Patches to the lineup, and sit Holmberg and Jarnkrok? Getting OEL and McCabe back, will also be beneficial. The "Battle of Ontario" will be intense and electric! GO LEAFS GO !!!!

  2. Seroisley why do I follow ten leaf broadcast. You all in eastern place but fuck only with leafs. Look if leaf’s win stanlycup I’ll cheer until then my opinion are on Montreal since Vancouver most hated since leafs are out

  3. IF The Leafs are going to win , it's because of what Berube has done to coach them ! Look at what a coaching change did to Edmonton last year ! Toronto has talented players , they just need a coach who can get the most out of them ! BTW , I'm not a Leafs fan , I'm just pointing out the obvious !

  4. 0:32 In response to the question asked by Sarah Davis, I believe the Leafs have been built differently, but remain unconvinced they have enough of the right pieces on their roster to win a playoff series. I have course hope the Leafs will win a Stanley Cup in my lifetime, but unless they make it to a 2025 conference final, I hope the coming on season will for starters feature no more Mitch Moner or John Tavares on this roster, but also potentially a buyout or trade of defenceman Morgan Rielly. This is season 9 following the drafting of Auston Matthews at first overall, and it’s time for him, Will Nylander, Marner, Tavares and Rielly as a group to prove that all five belong on the same team beyond this postseason. It’s a reasonable ask considering the per-season cap hits those players carry (in all but Rielly‘s case, over US$10 million).

  5. My biggest worry is the goaltending. I know Stolarz' numbers are great, but after all this time, and after HOF goalies have come to Toronto only to be proven "not good enough", is this really the guy? I'm not sure if he is and I'm not even sure he's the better goalie in this series!

  6. Actually, I believe this ends quicker than everyone thinks. In Toronto’s favour.

I don’t care if Ottawa swept the season series. This is different in playoffs and Toronto are not the same team. They will be just as pumped as any team and they will be dangerous.

  7. Their problem has always been scoring when it matters. None of the new additions help with that. It also doesn't help that the sens score a lot more dirty/netfront goals, which are playoff type goals. The Leafs should win in 6, but it wouldnt surprise me if the sens upset them

  8. Leafs are going to the Stanley Cup Finals this year. A nice sweep in the 1st round will give them time to rest and prepare for the real battles ahead.
