Instead if the 3-2-1 point system they should just get rid of the loser point, then OT losses could be the tiebreaker. We saw how stupid the current system is last year, why should you be rewarded for losing? It just encourages teams to play it safe at the end of tie games.
They should also make shootouts best of 5, shortening it to best of 3 is one of the stupidest things the NHL has ever done. Penalty shot used to be the rarest most exciting play, shortening the shootout just made it lame because it's over way too quick. Also you should be able to send the same player more than once like international rules.
Yzerman has so far over 6 drafts has produced 6 players that are on the team. I don't consider that all that special, I'd say it is average. You guys are much higher on Johansson then I am, I think he looks OK. I see a third pair d-man, you say 2nd pairing, I guess we'll see. Soderblom, again you and others speak very highly of him, I see the same player that was up 2 years ago, maybe even a little worse. In 22-23 he had 8 points in 21 games, 0.38 ppg, this year he has 11 points in 26 games, 0.42 ppg, is that what two years of development gets us? An improvement of 0.04 ppg? His shooting % is down from 16.7 to 10.5%. His takeaways are down from 9 to 5, his giveaways are up dramatically. 3 in 22-23 to 21 this year, I know he is not a true center but his FO% is only slightly improved from 25% to 26.7%. He does hit more, he went from 21 to 43, his corsi rating is down from 52.4 to 49.0. I don't know, for a guy who has 2 years in the AHL and is 23, I'd think you would see more growth, otherwise he is what he is, a role player. Everyone seems to be juggling Kaspers plum's, I see a player who shows flashes but nothing that makes me say "oh yeah that guy is going to be a star". He's got 35 points in 75 games, that's ok. he had 35 points in the AHL in 71 games last year. He's winning 45% of his faceoffs, he has 9 takeaways to 46 giveaways. He has a very respectable corsi rating of 51.3%. But i don't know, he reminds me of Nyquist when he first started playing in the NHL. He would show flashes that make you go "wow", but he never really turned into that star we hoped he would be. I feel like the same will be with said about Kasper when it is all said and done. A very good player, but not a star. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't share so many peoples enthusiasm.
Lacrosse does have a shot clock as well, at least box lacrosse does. Hockey players could probably manage it, people would just yell from the bench
It's time for maltby to kick rocks
