Sounds like Heskinen is highly unlikely to play round 1, Robertson got hurt in meaningless game,& sounds like we are full strength. Like LA with Edmonton-if we can't beat Dallas this yr-it might never happen. And the moves we made definitely help us match up better with Dallas.But it's not just them.Getting Nelson & Coyle (along with Drury)-not only give us more depth against Dallas,& arguably the best center depth in NHL.But also Nelson,&/or Coyle could easily be on WPG or Minny right now+l-if we hadnt got them.
So it's a double whammy-we drastically improved our center depth & forward depth overall. While WPG-as good as they are-didn't get those guys,& thus didn't upgrade on below average 2C Nemesticov. Nelson definitely would've filled that hole for them but even Coyle would be an upgrade for them at 2C. Although he's much more perfectly slotted at 3C-like he is with us. I don't think Hellunbuck will melt down these playoffs-like he has in the past. I think he got too much blame last yr anyways. He wasn't his usual great self but his team also let him down. But I do think Nemesticov at 2C is their glaring weakness.
If it was 1 vs 8 we'd be playing LA w/o home ice.But then again maybe wed have played more people & beat LA & got 4 seed,& home ice last Sat. We only lost 5-4 with half the Eagles out there as is. Not that playing LA would be easy-I think that will end up being WCF now. But regardless the NHL playoff setup is complete nonsense. Wash,& Pitt had to play 2 or 3 times when they probably were 2 best teams-at least should've been ECF.
As for the injuries-I want the best scenario for us to advance.And after the last few yrs when Dallas,& WPG have basically been blessed injurywise(comparatively speaking)-whille Colorado & Minnesota have dealt with ridiculous injuries,& suspensions. Yes this year but not only this year. Star fans didn't feel sorry for us when Nichuskin got suspended an hr before game 3,Drouin & Toewes hurt & Landy out for 3 yrs.
Or in bubble when we were missing like 6 or 7 regulars,& 2 goalies-still got to OT of game 7-with Michael Hutchinson in net. So I don't feel a damns bit sorry for them or WPG. I figure the hockey injury gods are FINALLY starting to even it up some-only took 4 yrs-lol. Only Minny among West contenders has remotely had to deal with what we have basically the entire 2020s-so thats the breaks. Yes everybody has SOME injuries,& Edmonton with McDavid/Drasaitil,& few others this yr but not like 3 different decimated seasons in 2020s-like AVS,& Minny have faced.
